Diamond Silver Metallic opinions
I’m normally a black, silver or white sort of car guy. Every car my wife and I have owned has been a variant thereof, maybe an interesting dark charcoal black in the mix, but all basic colors.
With that said, I see a Diamond Silver Metallic S560 out of town that I may be interested in. The color could be awesome or I could hate it. Hard to tell from the listing at the dealer and since it isn’t here it is hard to go look in person.
I’f love thoughts and if anyone has one some real pics would be much appreciated.

While I don't know anything about Diamond Silver Metallic - I know the regular Silver and Black color options on S-Classes look amazing...
White on the other hand, I can never seem to appreciate.

This is interesting. I have never done a poll before but saw that option and figured it was an easy and fun way to get some discussion or at least votes on this.
Oddly though, there have been 34 clicks so far and only one person voted or wrote anything. Is it less clear on how to make an input than I imagined?
I've got a diamond silver W222. I don't consider it anything awesome but at the time of purchase the colour choices were quite limited (excluding designo for cost reasons). I did not want black or any very dark colour that shows swirl marks and any bit of dirt. Diamond silver was popular on other MB models too while I would have preferred something that is more unique for an S-class (like the andorite grey on my W221). Diamond silver is a bit light blue, something that not all like (obviously for any colour there is someone who does not like it).
I don't think photos make much sense, need to see the colour on a real car, an S-class if possible but as said, other models have this same colour. Also opinions of other owners do not help much, colour is a matter of personal preference. Perhaps I should add that my coming car is graphite grey, probably the darkest colour I've ever had.
There is a Diamond Silver S class near me I see regularly. It just doesn’t look very stately to me.. no offense but it looks like a feminine color. The regular Silver looks much better to me. My favorite color would be Lunar Blue. Don’t see many but looks awesome in person. Just my opinion on the colors but it is really up to your personal preference

Well to be fair Jim that is one item that Iwas wondering. Is it a feminine looking color on the S class? I am perfectly comfortable in my masculinity but don't want to be driving a car more appropriate for my wife or daughter.
Color is a personal preference item for sure but the issue I am having is there are NO Diamond Silver anythings around here - at the dealers anyway. I would have to ship this car in so that makes it hard.
I think on the smaller calls it doesn’t look too bad. Seen plenty of E and Class that look fine. But on larger vehicles, S Class, GL, it just doesn’t look right to me.I think that may be one of the reasons you rarely see them in that color.
We all agree to differ on colours, however when I was searching for my s class I absolutely did not want black but decided on a silver colour.
I went to look at this used one at a Mercedes’ dealer and decided there and then it was , in my eyes, my favourite colour for the car.
the perfect colour interior was a bonus , I also wanted a light interior , now three years later I still could not be more pleased and it gets plenty of admirers wherever I go.
you should really try to find one in the metal to view as it is an important decision to make.

Well I found this video of an S63. Prior model but the looks are close enough. With the AMG package and sporty wheels it doesn't look bad, but then again this is a video and not in person. I am still on the fence.
I have owned so many of the other silver in the past including several Audis, S550 sedan, S550 coupe, and two Lexus LX570s (my wife drives). So the traditional silver is our safe place. I am afraid I will either think the diamond silver is a cool change or I will potentially hate it and think it looks baby blue. This is a silly exercise I know as nobody can answer it for me but I do appreciate the input.

I like it. That's a nice looking car. The one I am reviewing has the black Nappa interior and different 20" wheels but I do like your light interior. It doesn't look feminine to me in your pics. There are not nearly as many light interior cars in the US as there should be in my opinion..

Over here , when I was looking, i reckon 9 out of 10 cars available were black, in London they are all used as chauffeur cars. Also it seemed virtually all of the cars around, including "normal" silver cars seemed to have black interiors. My GL has a black interior but for that vehicle it is hugely practical however my other cars have ivory interiors and I really only wanted a light interior.
It is a big investment and I shall keep it a long time so for me it was important to get exactly what I wanted, it also has the Magic Body Control and driver assistance pack as well.
FWIW, we have had a SL600 in Diamond Silver, followed by 3 SL550's in Iridium Silver. The diamond silver was my choice but they stopped offering it for the SL's
All the S-class colors are beautiful and as they say, in matters of taste there is no dispute!
I enjoy my dark Anthracite Blue largely because you don't see these as often and I like something different. The Lunar Blue is very pretty also and you don't see yourself all the time in that one either.
I wish Mercedes offered greater variety ... my wife loves Lexus' Matador Red, but to my knowledge Mercedes has never offered a red W222, apart from "Ruby Black".
When I first starting looking at S-class cars I was smitten by a Palladium Silver 2015. I had this color in a C-class in the past and really liked it, but they only offered it in '14 and '15 S-classes.

I don't disagree that a high end car with very well maintained and waxed black paint looks great - however as someone who has owned my share of black cars I have also found that silver and white sure are friendly when the weather isn't great and you have rain showers every couple of days. I can't bring myself to keep washing the car every other day in those weather patterns and the black for me is one that is either beautiful or just plain dirty. Not much in between. Some could also argue that in large sedans such as the S class or a 7 series that black is also the limo or car service color of choice. That part doesn't bother me but I know it does bother some. FWIW my past two cars - Cayenne S and current Range Rover Supercharged have been black. And I cant keep them clean...
The recent S560 that was "the one that got away" also happened to be black on black so go figure I almost bought another black car last week!

Does Anthracite Blue - actually look blue? I see more gray in it than I do anything else...
Which one did you end up liking more - Lunar or Anthracite? Which one was easier to keep clean? Which one got more compliments?
Yes, Anthracite Blue does often look charcoal or gray, especially in bright sunlight. But so did Palladium Silver ... I'd take the car somewhere and the repair order would have "Gray" as the color.
