Presently 19 S560 SEDAN, 2014 XK, SOLD GLE 450e
2019 S560

Bought a2019 S560 a couple days ago with 17k miles.

It has no logo on the trunk saying 4Matic, so I assumed it was not 4 Matic. Talked to the fellow I bought it from and he said it was 4Matic and printed out the build of the car showing it's a 2019 S560V4. Meaning by the V4 that it is 4Matic.

So I should not be concerned about it being or not being 4Matic.........but having not much to do right now, I wonder if there is a way, without lifting the car, to tell if it's 4Matic??

Had a S550 Coupe that broke a front drive shaft so I know if I lifted it up I could tell by the lack of or having a front drive shaft, that it is or is not 4Matic.

Car rides fine and is quieter than the 2015 S550 Coupe most likely because of it riding on '19 inch wheels/tires.

Congrats on the purchase in these crazy used car times! Since you completel under warranty you could probably go by a dealership and get the original factory information about the car. I have seen most of the 4matics with the badge but lots of people like to delete them so this could be the case. You may even call MB's customer service number and get the original build information.

Turn your front wheels all the way to one side or the other and then look in behind the wheel and see if there is an a black axle going to the hub. If so you have 4matic

Good advice but I got the build sheet from Park Place Motors, Fort Worth, Tx. Nowhere does it say 4Matic.....but my dealer did show me the S560V4 which he says indicates 4Matic. I trust him but.......I'm a worry wart.

Note: I am NOT ;pissed at the dealer at all. Just at myself for not noticing the lack of 4Matic logo which should have made me question if this car to buy was all wheel drive or just two wheel drive.

I told him I could live without 4Matic and how I should have noticed the lack of logo on the trunk and that was my 'bad'. But I feel better using 4Matic in heavy rain, snow and especially driving on Padre Island beaches to do surf fishing. Won't drive on heavy sand ever again. Did that with a BMW 535D and regretted it.

In my experience the "4Matic" badge is easily damaged as the C catches on towels easily, I actually ripped mine off. I replaced the badge, but I considered just removing it. That may have happened to yours too

I prefer my cars to have a clean smooth surface so I removed all of the letter and number badging (including my 4-Matic lettering) on mine as soon as I got it. I've been doing that since the '60s. Perhaps the former owner of your car did the same, They're relatively easy to replace if you so choose. Good luck.

You might want to look up the original sticker? It may have 4matic on it?

Thanks for the help everybody.

I will sometime today turn the wheels all the way one way or the other.........like Jim Ma suggested.

But I'm watching MOTOGP Qualifying right now so I did the original Monroney sticker like Jarreddad suggested and spent the seven or so bucks to get it online. Yes, It is 4Matic like the dealer said and the sticker says.

Don’t get it previous owner said it is 4matic with build sheet proof, dealer said it is 4matic with build sheet proof what’s the confusion? Want proof without going through visual inspection post VIN.

Previous owner was a Mercedes dealership in Ft Worth.

They printed out a sheet showing it was a 2019 S560V4. The V4, it was said, indicated a 4Matic. Nowhere on the sheet did it say ...4Matic.

Took advice from this site to download and pay seven bucks for the original Monroney Sticker which said it was a S560 4Matic. So with that downloaded I'm satisfied it is what they said it was.

Am i paranoid? Yes, about every small thing in life that seems unusual. Hope that explains it

. Could have lived with a S560 without 4Matic but that would not allow me to drive on North Padre island beach to surf fish.
Don't like getting stuck in the sand and having to dig my way out.

Look here for your front axle shafts to confirm 4-Matic:

VIN Decoder should confirm if you have 4Matic or not.
Free online Mercedes-Benz VIN Decoder : MBDecoder

Also if you have an AMG package and all the wheels/tires are the same sizes, you'll likely have 4Matic. AMG package and staggered setup (rear is wider than front) implies that you have non-4Matic.

This is very wrong statement. My car is 4Matic ( MY2020) and it has staggered set up from the factory 245/40/20 front and 275/35/20 rear.

My “new” used Maybach has the C also kinda tilted and I thought that it got hit there (car fax shows clean title tho) and they did a **** job of replacing it on the side of the driver’s door, but from what you said it’s just the c getting caught in towels.
