just bought s550 with 108k miles
hello all, Bought a daily and would like some help refurbing it. One owner all dealer maintained till 103k miles. Current getting turbo coolant lines replaced due to leakage, as well as oil filter housing for an oil leak. Otherwise my Indy tells me its clean. I would however like to get a better ride, currently on 20 inch non rft MP$ a/s tires. My question is can i get away with the Arnott reman suspension vs the fcp euro oem at 1500 corner? How big is the real difference? Pics to follow just getting her detailed as well.

I don’t think anyone on here has used the Arnott struts for a w222 yet, but without a doubt they have a great reputation and make a good product. I’m guessing they’re about half the cost of the OE MB / Bilstein units?

Do you need to replace the struts?

Honestly I do not know, just hoping that by maybe replacing them it will ride a lot smother. in comfort mode its all over the place and in sport my brain shakes. I have had previous w222 and have a w223 and there is a big difference. Obviously can't compare a brand new w223 to my 100k mile w222.

Looks in good shape for the mileage!
I wouldnt spend $3k+ on new struts just in the hopes it would improve things...what did your mechanic think?

Airmatic struts either work or they do not. Biggest problem is that the air bags dry out and spring a leak. There is also a spring dampener that can break free and cause a clunking sound over bumps. I would not spend 3K on struts with the anticipation that they will do anything to effect the existing ride quality. I replaced one failing strut on my 2015 S550 4 Matic and an reman unit cost me around 500 bucks, and I installed it myself, very easy to do. You can find these struts either new or reman for around 500 bucks on ebay and other sites. Your money is better spent doing a comprehensive service on the car and getting any services done that have not already been done and documented. Trans, Coolant and Diff service comes to mind.

Nice car, congrats.
New struts will do nothing to the ride. If you'd like to improve your ride you better spend money to replace control arms and stabilizer bushings.
