Sunroof front glass fading issue

Had anyone else had this issue. What can I do to fix it?

I don't believe that picture above is of an S Class...

That picture shows it to be paint, not glass. Solution there is to repaint that piece

Or have vinyl covering applied which is another valid option.

It's not an S class. But it's exactly what my front glass piece looks like.

This appears to be a common weakness for W222 cars before they switched to a glass piece there. There appear to be three potential fixes:
1. replace with glass -- the later W222 cars had glass for that piece. Of course, the fix costs $$$$, unless your car is covered by the recall (see prior thread for link). So check if your car is eligible for a recall replacement.
2. repaint that piece -- I got a quote for US$450 to do it.
3. wrap that piece -- I haven't tried pricing that solution yet.

Just wrap it or paint it. No big deal.

My car has a glass piece and looks like that. Maybe I'll just have it painted because my VIN is not covered in the search.
Thanks for the reply.

Honestly, it should have not happened in an S Class let alone A Class .I would have it wrapped if the price is sensible than replace that piece

Agreed. I wonder if a glass place can reglaze it.

Anyone have an estimate on cost to replace with the new glass panel? I'm guessing US$2k+ at the dealer?

I had the same faded paint on the glass piece last year on our S550. Got it repainted for about 500, I'm in Austin TX. It looks immaculate now.

I don't have a good picture of the area after it was re painted.

I have a 2014 S350 here in Australia, has the same issue, will call the dealer and ask if the Aussie cars were included in the recall and will advise.

Little things like this are worth fixing on a really great car as it gets older...

That plastic pretend glass that MB uses for window adjecent surfaces is an embarrassment, have been replacing them since the CLS which had them as B pillar. They last like 4 years, paint is probably a better idea, I'll give that a try as the SLK needs one now...
