how to tell if transmission oil has been done?
I'm curious if there's a way to confirm whether or not the transmission oil has been replaced using the service menus? My 2015 S550 came to me with 65k miles on it, with dealer service records up to 45k miles. So there's an 18-month gap in records, and I'm not sure whether the recommended 60k transmission oil replacement was done. Is this something that ASSYST Plus tracks?

Had the same question as you did. Mine didnt had any servicerecords in the DSB nor is there any written booklet anymore since erverything is digitally recorded. So how to tell if the oil is changed? There's only on way and thats to remove the transmissionpan and look at the date stamped in the filter. It states the manufacturingdate and hence you can "somewhat" conclude if its been done cause whenever changing the oil, you need to change the filter.
Personally i dont see any reason not to change transmissionfluid after 50-100k miles. Any oil loses its capabilaties after use. Mine started shifting worse after a oilchange but that was caused by the dealer NOT resetting some settings AFTER changing the fluid. This resetting is MANDETORY by MB, but they forgot of just didnt give no F@#$. They didnt even record the service in the DSB, so therefor i had the same question as TS. After checking the filterdate, changing the oil for the second time and resetting some adaptationvalues the shifting noticely improved.

My 2016 has 11k miles on it. Considering its age, should I get the transmission oil changed? I am told by a Mercedes shop that there is no drain and fill of transmission oil just a complete service. Is that correct? Is it better to do it from dealer or from a independent Mercedes only shop considering it has 6 months factory warranty left? Thanks.

I doubt it was done. Its an expensive dealer service, and many get out of it by trading before due. Also many owners don't even know to do it, and are only prompted by the dealer if ever. I have bought many used Mercedes and have only seen it done a few times in the service records. My current car was bought at 27K so it will be my doing probably next year. I would definitely do it. I have never seen the fluid look terrible at 50-60K but it is definitely used. I did the rear diff fluid, and it looked brand new coming out, so that was no rush either.

I had mine changed recently at 45K miles and the transmission feels noticeably better, fewer harsh downshifts. It was costly but I enjoy the car more now and glad I had it done.

Thanks. I asked because the transmission does feel jerky at times. Its not smooth. Yes, i do have frequent short trips (6-10 miles) a day. That was the reason why I ask for transmission oil change. But will skip it as don't feel the need for it. I did get the Service B done at Mercedes as soon as I bought it so oil change was done. The service writer was recommending to do a 6 year old service based on the age of the car but I skipped it as it has low miles.

With such low miles, and short trips, its kinda hard for your learning computer to adjust. The dealer can do a reset, and it will start a new learing pattern of your driving habits. There may also be an update? That may improve things. My 2016 is not perfect and can be a little jerky but its the hard downshift out of nowhere sometimes.
