Rear trunk Latch
Odd problem.
On a cold morning in the 40’s and having not started the car, when operating the rear trunk it will not lock. It will move and attempt to lock but it just tries and pops back up.
But once I start the car- after 30 seconds running, the trunk will operate as normal and the latch locks.
Any insight to this issue? Thanks

When it’s open push the emergency open button a couple times, think it’s green and on/in the trunk lid. You’ll hear the latch cycle. Then close it. Might have to do it a couple times. Mine closed and locked. I found this fix on utube.

I also have the same issue. For me what works best is to use the door switch to remotely close the trunk. Doesn’t work 100% of the time, but better than the trunk closing button.

Mine does the same thing. I am in Southern California, so it is never cold here. It always happens at a local, small shopping center. Sometimes, the Emergency Trunk Button solves the problem, but not always. I always get it to close, however, once I leave that shopping center. Every time. They must have some kind of radio transmissions which activate the unlock system. Very Weird!

Speaking of trunk opening and closing ... can the mechanism stand the trunk being opened and closed by hand? If I put a large item in the trunk and the lid won't close all the way, can I lower it by hand and then use a bungee cord or something to hold it place while I'm driving?
Seems like it's really only meant to be all the way open or all the way closed and operated only by the motor.

This happened to me a couple of weeks back in out W222, took it to the dealer and they said it was a software issue, they reset ans now its working perfectly.

About to ask a dumb question. Do you mean the trunk switch in the driver’s door will both open and close the trunk? I started having this problem a few days ago. I closed it manually. It’s going to the dealer for windshield replacement so I’ll let them look at it.

How did you close it manually? When I tried an old school close/slam the trunk it just popped back open.

Yes, that switch will open and close the trunk. When mine acted up using that switch didn’t help. The trunk latch was the goofy part of the system. Pushing the green button and cycling the latch a couple times got it closed.

Have we all found the hidden rear spoiler feature?
