Rear Defroster

Can someone explain how the rear window gets defrosted? After activating switch on the console it takes forever to have a clear window. I don’t see any wires on the glass other than the radio antenna on the upper 3 inches.
Perhaps it was an option that isn’t on my car?

Denis, your rear window does clear after a few minutes? So it is working just slowly. I believe that rear window defrost is standard equipment on mb products. I know my wife’s 2006 Honda Accord had rear window defrost.

The heating comes from very fine wire mesh in the window. Not like conventional rear window defrost wiring. You’ll notice the glass isn’t perfectly clear if you look at it closely. You have the rear window defroster, it just looks different than what you are used to.

I now notice these fine lines in the glass. But I’m thinking there is an electrical issue as it dissipates from the top down as if hot air is blowing on it but I never see it clear up because of these lines.

Dennis.... Move!

Never needed to use any defroster here in Phoenix!

Also haven’t had to shovel any of the sunshine.
