Windshield Washer Pump
Hi Team 222.
my windshield washer sprays no fluid and makes no noise when button is pressed.
Diagnostic on the C4 shows no issue.
hmmm any ideas?
replace pump?
Thanks

Yes, the most common issue is the tiny inlet filter holes are clogged. In my car the actual motor was also burned out, so I replaced both it and the filter.

I'm going to remove the tank and see what's happening.
MIne is probably clogged and burnt....

The filter's actually just the little $2 grommet where the pump goes into the tank. You have to take the tank out though to get to it.
Someone recently did a really nice post with pictures showing how you do that. Quite easy once you see what to disconnect, move out of the way, etc.

My filter was clogged. I mixed an ounce of Clorox with a full tank of water. Left it overnight. Next day all the gunk in the filter was gone. Washer worked fine.

Yes but hardly any water came out prior to Clorox clean. I was about to remove everything and clean filter. Tried this last resort and it worked.

I did this today.
took about an hour.
I didn't disconnect any hoses or remove fender liner.
You have to remove the coolant tank and front part of the air intake

Yes, the pump was dead and there was scum in the filter rubber grommet.
So I washed everything out and put new pump, works like it should now..
if you hit the wash button on the turn column and hear no noise from the pump it's fried, replace pump.
I got mine for 40 something on Amazon.

Nice going, you saved yourself a couple hundred dollars (my Indy shop wanted $250 for this job).
Good idea to thoroughly wash out the tank so it doesn't clog up again ;-)
