Alternative Brand of Tire / Tyre to Pirelli Zero

Hello all,

My 2019 S560 has 36,000 kilometres (I am in Melbourne Australia) and I am likely to have to change all 4 tyres soon. I have found that the harsh ride of the run flats is in no comparison to the silky smooth non run flats I had in my previous S350.
My current tyres are - FRONT 245 / 40 R20" 99Y and REAR 275 / 35 R20". I have tried many tyre pressure combinations and still cannot seem to enjoy a smoother(er) ride.

I fully appreciate that 20" runflats could never equal the "give" of an 18" non-run flat and consequently the cushioned ride.

For some stupid reason I optioned the wheels to 20" RIMS and wish I was advised of this to re-consider but here we are ....

With that context, I am wondering if there are other Tyre Brands for this size of rim that may be a better (read quieter and less harsh ride) option.

In Australia I can have access to ...

1. Pirelli PZ4 (the replacements of the original P Zero).
2. Michelin Pilot Sport 4.
3. Continental Conti Extreme .. (very expensive)..

I am not a "spirited: driver. In fact boring almost.
I am not seeking AMG style driving dynamics or performance.
I drive a lot in town as well as Motorway (once our twice a week for about 100 kilometres each trip.

Any thoughts much appreciated ... Thank you all.

I have heard that P Zero tires are touted as the best performance tyre but I have not tried any Pirelli P Zero product yet. I have been using Michelin Primacy 4 in my other car and quite satisfied with them. I will be switching to Michelin Pilot Sport Series in my W212 as well as it came with the Goodyear tires

Honestly mate you're just pissing away a tonne of money on those brands, I run Falken, Atturo and Khumo and I've never been happier, the irony of the Atturo AZ850's is they're superior in the wet, I'm in Canberra where's sub zero during winter and they're amazing in the dry, we get summers temps over 42 degrees. Best of all they are really hard wearing and SUPER cheap compared to the ***** poser brands.

Mine has pirelli cintauro run flats.
I scrapped these tires for Micheline pilots 4.
Kept the fatter run flat for the trunk spare.

I tried Falken, Toyo, and Kumho tires on my previous car, it was a S600, and neither tire would handle the weight/load of the S600. I finally had to go to some Continentals. I just bought a S500 and it has Pirelli tires, but I'll probably go to Bridgeston or Continentals. Just becareful of the load rating when you pick tires, this is mainly an issue on full size cars, not so much with smaller and mid sized cars.

Yeah if you're driving a big heavy tank then the ones I run may not be ideal loa rating wise, Atturo I can swear by as I have a 2020 Chrysler 300 SRT 6.4HEMI and she's no light weight, their traction in the dry is pretty amazing too...I've done a best 4.2sec 0-100 with them. Honestly not sure of their load rating.

After damaging a front wheel, I opted for 19" wheels as the best compromise between tire availability.

I hated the original run-craps and changed them out for some (let's leave the name out) over two sets and did not like the ride not the lifetime.
I have been supremely happy with the Khumo 19" non-run-flat tires I put on.
You can run tire pressures of 40 SPI and still get a quiet, soft, compliant, grippy ride.

I think the Extreme Contact DWS tires are SL load rated, rather than XL that MB specifies for front tires.
Any issues with this?

The michelin MXM MOE's are runflats that came with my car in 19" and I know everyone bashes on runflats but these tires are very comfortable, however they are not the best performance tire I have ever used for sure. I am used to running YR or ZR tires on my other cars (save my SUV) but they seem like they will last a long time, I have only put 8k on them in the 3 1/2 years I have owned the car and there is still well over half tread. I ran the Michelin Pilots on my older Q45 and never got more than 12-16k out of those on the heavy car.

Maybe someone can comment on the MOE"s if they are true runflats I believe they are specially designed for Meredes but I have to say when I wear these out I will probably buy another set. While they are not super sticky they ride nice and now that I am more used to using the Sport suspension mode and very used to the big beast it handles welll enough

Thank you so much for the pragmatic recommendation. An independent garage said exactly the same thing - try the cheaper brands rather than the poser ones.

I replaced RFT with Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons as soon as I got the car, but instead of 245 front and 275 rear I went with AMG sizes 255/40/20 front and 285/35/20 rear . My car also has 20" wheels and I have no complains driving it in NYC. This set up provides a little more rubber between the wheel and the ground and feels much better than original size.

FWIW I have Pirelli PZERO All Season Plus non runflat on my S560 and they are excellent tires...
