Just a heads up recall on low pressure fuel line on 2018 not sure what other years

222 recall just learned this today. This is in relation to the fuel smell that I’d taken my car to the dealer 4x before it’s was finally identified to be the low pressure fuel line and clamp. Anyone with a fuel smell in their garages and a S560 take note. Dealer told me about this recall today when the car was dropped off for a non working rear sunshade and non working heated arm rest which should be covered under Warrantee.

I appreciate your taking time posting about the fuel line . I think it's way more important than heated arm rest anyway . I trust it will be covered under warranty so that you won't pay for it

Hopefully the dealer will cover the heated armrest. It says under the CPO warranty that electrical systems are cover and that electrical. I just get nervous as the last dealer charged me to repair the sinking right front hydraulic strut and it was just an adjustment to the ride height sensor. He said they had to do coding and that was not covered. It was 170 bucks but then he agreed to take 10 percent off the whole maintenance bill which was 700 so it cost me 100 bucks. Still though you’d figure that would be covered the car was leaning an inch and a half to the right side.

Yes, be sure to have this recall performed ASAP. I was on a 4 1/2 hour trip and 3 1/2 of it is in the middle of nowhere with no cell service. I started to smell gasoline in my car and really smelled it when I made a quick restroom break at a gas station near a major freeway. I noticed steam coming out of my hood when I came back outside and it turns out it was gasoline! Long story short, I had to wait 4 hours for a flatbed to arrive (all covered by MB Roadside Assistance) and had it towed an hour and a half away to the closest MB Dealership. They immediately knew what the issue was and had the parts in stock so it was repaired in about an hour. Turns out it was this recall. The small rubber hose failed at the clamp and fuel was spraying all over the inside of my engine compartment. I got lucky - thankfully it all happened at a gas station and there was no fire!

Yes this recall covers quite a few vehicles from 2018 to 2021 around 24000 vehicles. That’s unusual that the whole line comes off. Normally it’s just a drip. Mine went on for months and four trips to the dealer telling me there was nothing wrong even though I was having to leave my garage door open because there was so many gas fumes in there.
