Looks like Mercedes connect needs update for iOS 16.2

Waiting for my cat at the vet with doors unlocked. I get notification “car is unlocked. Lock car?” I click on it but nothing. Notification is missing.

iPhone 13 Pro Max with iOS 16.2.

I updated the app so now it’s working. I hate iOS 16 so far. Used it for maybe 2 weeks. Had 15 for a year. It just worked.

Anyone else see this?

No issues with mine, sometimes you need to sign back in.

I see no difference between iOS 16 and iOS 15 that would make me hate it or think about it at all...

I did find some Siri problems that were not specific to 16. So far I just see gimmicks like the Lock Screen.

Only problem left is minor. And I think I posted. Needing to unlock phone before CarPlay works. I don’t remember doing that on 15. I just found that 15 was more consistent, more stable.

I like the lock screen

Its a setting, and it was in all other versions of iOS also, to allow CarPlay while the phone is locked. Just turn it on.

People always say they HATE new versions of iOS, they are 98% the same as the previous version lol

It seems many are experiencing numerous bugs with iOS 16.2. https://www.macrumors.com/2023/01/16...-after-launch/

I have checked my phone, and as I already knew from 15.7, "Allow CarPlay While Locked" is already turned ON. I have checked settings in the car. I have checked settings in the phone. Something is wrong with 16.2.

No issues with 16.2 here, either. Everything works as before with 15.x. "Allow CarPlay While Locked" works as it ever did. The only issue I was having was with wireless CarPlay crashing in the Golf 8 rental I just drove for the last three weeks in Europe, but I attribute that to the horrendous VW software. Wired CarPlay worked fine, though.

I also like the new things in 16, specifically the lock screen widgets. I have a smart home integrated with Apple Homekit and I get a nice summary on the lock screen now about the climate in my house and whether the house is secure.

Sometimes upgrading to a major new iOS version can leave crud behind and a factory reset maybe required to set it up all fresh. I always seem to at least need to reset the network settings. I do however skip the initial releases, because they are notoriously buggy and I don't trust Apple to clean up correctly from issues created by those bugs, so I typically wait for 0.1 or 0.2 release before I upgrade. If I remember correctly I went straight to 16.1 or 16.1.1 this time.

No issues here. Have you rebooted your phone?

So the advice is factory reset. And/or reboot phone.

I have worked in IT a long time. I think I will wait for 16.3 before doing a factory reset. I have rebooted my phone but I could not tell you when.

I don’t recall having to factory reset any of my previous phones, usually Android. Maybe Apple software has more bugs.

Well, if you work in IT you should know a reboot cures many things...haha. I work in IT, too. Problem is bugs can corrupt data or settings and you don't get those fixed w/o a factory reset. Restoring from a backup unfortunately just carries the corrupt data forward. Haven't had to do a factory reset in a while, but I had similar issues in the past where something got corrupted along the way and the factory reset cleared it up. Apple fixes the bugs, but does not necessarily take care of fixing the corrupted data.

Perhaps this website could add a feature to randomly scramble the text so you could practice doing a reboot or factory reset on your device?

Why would you wait to do a reboot? Just reboot it now and see if it works. I'm running 16.2 and I don't have any issues...

Huh? I'm not the one who has issues with their phone. Nobody else seems to have issues with 16.2, either so clearly it's something unique with your phone.

I said I’ve rebooted. I said I don’t remember when but I’m pretty sure it was after 16.2.

If it helps I will reboot again and tell you I’d it fixes anything. Don’t hold your bre <CONNECTION LOST>

I hope as an IT person you can recognize the difference between a general widespread issue affecting multiple devices and a unique issue affecting only a single device. So far, your issue seems to be the latter. We are just trying to be helpful. Confronting those who are putting out suggestions is not productive. If you don't want to take the advice so be it. Carry on and leave us alone.

Uh hold on!

We are back and forth on this forum. I thought I should do this at a time more convenient for me.

If you don’t believe there is a problem just google a bit.

That's fine. Then just say you'll try rebooting later and post back with the result instead of making a snarky post about scrambling text so I can practice a factory reset.

I'm not saying there are no problems, but as far as CarPlay is concerned, the problems are usually specific to certain brands of cars due to the software in the car. We here all drive a Mercedes and the Infotainment system is shared between the different models of the same generation. There is MBUX in the newer models, but the W222 has COMAND NTG 5.5, which is found in several other models like my '19 C63S and others. To the best of my knowledge, there have not been reports of CarPlay issues with iOS 16.x and COMAND NTG 5.5.

But when everybody else here has iOS 16.2 and doesn't have this issue, and you do...clearly the issue is with your phone.
