Mac system update…

Almost afraid to ask since I just read a very volatile exchange regarding quick or short nav system options…but here goes…so I would appreciate any thoughts on the following. My S560 2020 shows the last over-the-air update was 05/03/21 - I assume that’s for the nav. I’m curious though because I live in Jax FL, Drive quite a bit to Orlando etc for fam…car always seems completely lost around I4 downtown….should I just be patient or am I missing a download? Mercedes me connect says I’m up to date on downloads…any comments gratefully appreciated. Not the biggest problem in the world but I’m curious. Separately I managed to park nose in over those little concrete stoppers and ripped the front spoiler off for what might not be the last time…sigh

I logged on to the MercedesMe website the other day and found that there was an available map update. I downloaded it onto a USB stick, plugged it into the car and it updated in about 10 minutes while I was driving to work. According to the app, I was all up to date, but on the website I found something.

my only issue is that I’m a Mac user, and it took me a minute to format the USB correctly to load the update.

I don’t believe that a map update is an automatic update over the air. I do believe that the dealer will update them for free to the original owner under original warranty (4yrs)

Not sure about the W222 MY 2018 or 2020 but our 2017 E-class already had home area maps updated over the air. My 2014 W222 did not support OTA updates but I'd assume a 2020 car would.

Just coming back around to this and looking again, someone mentioned that there is an update available.

On a Mac, when formatting the usb stick, in Disk Utility, select Erase, and then Format = ExFAT and Scheme = Master Boot Record

Doing that, and the Mercedes me Download Manager sees my USB drive/stick.

Looks like a somewhat older thread, but there have been several map updates since 2021. Updates come out about twice a year. Version 25 was just released in July. 2019+ model years have OTA updates for the maps, but only the home region gets updated automatically. To update the full map one has to manually download it from the web portal onto a USB stick or SD card. It installs fairly quickly if done that way. I usually do the manual update and preempt the OTA update so the last two OTA updates show as not installed in my case as they were superseded by the manual updates.

It's odd, mine 2019 didn't want to pull down the last update OTA, but took it from USB, I just downloaded another, and see some slight differences in the file. I'm not sure why I did it, other than I can, as I use CarPlay for maps!

There have been two OTA updates for the communication module to make improvements. Did you get those? The one from 2021 also addressed a recall for the SOS system.

Yeah the dealership fried my SOS module when they tried to do it!
This is what I see in the app:

Yeah, your OTA updates are not working at all. I can see the history of updates all the way back to 2019 when I took delivery of the car.

Nav updates? OK, I'm a 2018 S560 owner in Suwanee. What is the final outcome of your nav update? Thanks for the help.

Mine definitely applied, after downloading through the Mac downloaded app, I have no idea what version I am on, and tbh I use my phone for navigation. I used updated because I could, I do recall that with the one before did something with the view at night, lots of little lights started to show up to represent houses.
