ATF Color how do i tell which is mine?

Quick question - new to the forum I did the search but I couldn't find what. iwas looking for.

2015 S550 - WDDUG8FB9FA191351

How do I tell which color my ATF is? Blue or Red? Im at 53,XXX miles just purchased the W222 this week want to do some early maintenance.
How do I know if I have A89 in the trans or not? I also thought I didn't have a dipstick for trans?

Coming from Porsche - I exclusively only used Ravenol - what do Mercedes owners use?

That looks like your OIL Dipstick. You may not have a Transmission Dip Stick on your car..

Someone will comment on here soon,
but if your pan has deep dimples on the bottom it’s blue fluid, if the dimples on the bottom of the pan at not too deep it’s red but someone will run your vin and tell you soon, I’m sure.

That dipstick is for the oil. Oil changes are easy on that car, you can suck the oil out through the dipstick tube or you can drop the drip tray below and pull the plug out of the pan. the filter is up top but you need to verify filters before you get started as they have two varieties of filters, one with a plastic leg on it and they are not interchangeable. Trans service is dependent on the type of fluid you have believe it or not. There is also a very specific process you have to follow when refilling the trans fluid that typically requires a scan tool or digital temp gauge as you have to bring the car to a specific temp while adding the fluid. I will not do this myself as there is too much chance of screwing it up and I would rather pay the 3-400 bucks at the dealer for this specific service.

Ok I had no idea we had 2 different types of filters I ended up buying the one below. Im gonna have to look for the other type of filter and bring them both to my indie this filter below took long enough to find let alone finding the other one now lol

as for the ATF - I wonder if i should just bring it to the dealer. I have 53,XXX miles currently with a spectacular carfax 1 owner.

I would spend the money and have a dealer or very competent indy do the trans service. On my last 2015 S550 4M I had the trans serviced at 45K just because I am pretty particular about my cars. I think it was rated for 70K interval which seems crazy to me. Better than my 2019 S63 with the double clutch set up and 30K service interval though. My dealer sends out coupons every once in a while that gets the cost down to around 400 bucks if I recall.

Greatly appreciate all the advice - on my Cayenne I flushed the transmission fluid 2X one time was 65,XXX miles and the other was 115,XXX I was meticulous about service and would throw a bottle of Ravenol transfer case fluid every other oil change.

Gonna reach out to a couple dealers to see how much it is to flush the transmission its probably the main service item I want to get done over anything else.

flush on this should be like 800.
I use the MB fluids the dealer sells.
lots of spec sheets and parts to learn with this car.
invest in an xentry c4 set up so you can fix this tuff yourself.
for oil filters buy Mann or hengst brand.

Byw, are you Mayor McCheese, the Big Mac attack of hackensack?

I guess dealer will charge between $450- to $750- Make sure it includes draining the torque Converter.

lmao not Hackensack but Rahway/ Union County but the MayorMcCheese name gets good attention after all these years lol

in my old Porsche I only used Mann filters. For my first oil change on my W222 I went with 0W40 Mobil 1 same as my Cayenne and a OEM MB filter. H

heres a couple pics of my Cayenne

130,XXX miles at the time of these photos. I’m very meticulous lol

Besides the little projects on my S550 (JoyeAuto, Ambient Vents, BenzNinja Coding) I’m gonna get the oil change done along with the dealer transmission flush and front n rear drain n fill on the transfer case? Still reading in that I pulled up the specs on Amsoil to see how many pints.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
What gets me with these cars is how do you even know trans service was done? Since there is no dipstick it’s not like you can look for clean fluid. Same goes for the oil changes.
