I received my JoyeAuto car play today and spent 4 hours and still can’t get it to work has anyone had issues during install?

audio works fine but I cannot get the CarPlay screen to pop on. I briefly spoke with JoyeAuto on WhatsApp but it’s so cold and after trying every dip switch combo and unplugging and replugging the kit I had to go inside.

everything is connected on my end even tried for the heck of it cross connecting wires but nothing.
Did anyone ever have huge trouble getting initial install or am I not doing something that you did?
ive tried wired and wireless and still nothing

I understand these photos aren’t the best to explain the situation but I’m hoping it gives a broader picture to someone who may have some info on what I’m doing wrong.
I have all cables connected including in the rear vent location when I press the back button to load CarPlay I hear a click on the JoyeAuto and screen just goes black and if I press the back button again goes back to Mercedes screen

the pins I’ve had setup in every combo even how JoyeAuto said to me on WhatsApp

I've given up on this - Maybe my unit is defective but I don't know how I feel like very few if any fail. Woke up 7am went back outside disconnected everything one by one and reconnected everything then allowed carplay on my phone but navigation screen just goes black and spoke with JoyeAuto and we tried all different combinations on the dip switches but nothing would work every time I would try to activate carplay by pressing the back button I would hear a click sound on the module but the navigation screen would just go black until I would press it again which it would then go back to Mercedes interface.

Sending it back ill be buying another brand https://www.gtacarkits.com/product/w...***-2014-2017/

what a headache this has been

Sorry to hear that, I bet it was super annoying having to deal with that in the cold. Never heard of the JoyeAuto but have heard good things about the GTA kit. Hopefully you won't have issues with it.

I'll prob get the GTA kit soon myself. Any idea if it's possible to play YouTube videos in motion with it? Id like to have my music video playlist going when im driving.

Sorry to hear that. The aftermarket stuff is never fun. I have given up on it for the most part as I don’t feel it is straight forward as they claim not as reliable. Apple car play I can live without.

As much as I love Android Auto in my other cars I have resigned myself to live without this install. I wouldn't be able to do this myself and most shops want $500-600 for this install in the Bay Area. This other kit looks very good and does wireless which is really nice.

OP I am sorry you suffered through that -- it sounds like a horrible experience. I know how frustrating a failed car project can be!!

If you try again, I recommend the RoadTop unit. If you were local to me I would help you install it.

$500 for installation is reasonable. A good job takes about 3-4 hours, taking time not to break anything along the way. I'm sure BestBuy could do it for $250, but most of us wouldn't want that...

I just took out my whole center console just to unjam my cupholder door flap. It's not hard at all. Takes maybe 30 min tops to unscrew and remove it. To install the carplay module I would say another 30 min to hookup everything. Hardest part was lifting that big sob out of the car.

I finally got CarPlay to work and it works perfectly - I can pretty much take apart the center console within 5 minutes now since i've done this a few times with the JoyeAuto kit but in my opinion DO NOT waste your money with JoyeAuto - I know everyone uses them but in my research I had done, there module is just an old module if you look online or AliExpress n websites where as the GTA kit is a whole different module different clips better wifi antenna in every way its so much better and with the V2 Version i couldn't be happier plus GTA is based in Canada by east coast side so its so much better with communication.

Another thing that annoyed me with JoyeAuto was they made it seem like what I did was wrong which so many photos and videos on WhatsApp I borderline flipped out then they said they would ship another kit which I said no because I had to return my CarPlay back to china at my expense ($65) then it'll get there in 2 weeks then they gotta send a kit my way I wasnt having it. I have a feeling there gonna give me trouble with my money in which ill dispute it with the bank.

Install was easy i've done this 10 times already lol - I didn't even bother to disconnect any wires from the back seat there's no need, I rested the console on my leg plugged everything in and done.

Nice congrats. Glad you got it worked out. I like the resting thr console on the knee trick but how did the wire extend so much for you? Mine was alot shorter, did you untangle it inside the console first?

I believe it’s the same length but the GTA main plug has less wires, the “Power” and the “Can” plug are connected at the same harness where as JoyeAuto has a whole different cable. Once you plug the Mercedes Harness into the GTA harness you now have the added length from the GTA and since they incorporate the CAN wire in the same harness wiring it’s much easier to sort of “yank” everything

Yup this is a great video with good detail how to do everything and the CarPlay device is the same one. If you notice in the video the clips that all connect into the Module are much better then JoyeAuto’s

Anyone knows of a video that shows the removal of the Center Console if you have the Rear Executive Package?

I sent mine back because I too had problems installing it. But I'm glad I did because the unit I just got has a touch a pad that sits over the screen. So now I can touch AND use my rotary. But this time, I'm having GTA install it for me.

While that is VERY cool I'm sure you're aware that the screen is extremely far away to touch!

Yea, but even if I use it 25% of the time, its less wear and tear on my rotary dial. On my old E, I replaced that dial twice. This car i bought in Feb of 17. Its just a matter of time now before it fails..lol ( Youra actually looks good ( Is that with Coolwalk on Carplay))?
Actually the unit you have in your car right now is the one I installed two years ago. I'm going to put it on Kijiji once GTA takes it out next week

How do you get GTA to do the install?? They have some installation ceneters? I have been thinking about doing this but for sure I need someone to do it. I got one quote for $1,200 installed which is frankly criminal rip-off I laughed at the guy. So a $350 part and nearly 1 grand for 2 hours of labor I take a pass on that.

I just sent them an email, and told them I'm thinking of buying a unit from China, and if and when I received it, would they install it for me? Buddy wrote back and said sure, just let them know when. So I received the unit, last week, called them up...they were too busy this week but yea, they will remove the old one and install this one. Perfect.

1200$ all in? That's robbery. But without telling you how much GTA is charging me, I can tell you they are extremally fair. Once he told me the price I just said "yes" in a nano second.

Woooww... When I had me former W222, I was able to get it all installed in less than 1 hour or 1.5 hour max all together (and I am not that handy!, and it was the first time for me to try out , but I was prepared after watching full YouTube installation video). Once you do it once, it takes even less than 1 hour. When I sold me W222 a couple years ago, it took me literally 25-30 min to remove all the wires and modules and put it back together.

If you have rear seat AC and/or rear sear seat entertainment DVD module, I think the job will be harder though.

So did GTA come to your house to do the install??? I agree the $1200 was stupid and I laughed at that quote...I would never attempt the install myself, I am -5 on scale from 1-10 for skills doing something like this

I spent less than $300 to get the same kit as GTA, only lacking the “GTA” printing, although the manual is a bit crude, but all the accessories are the same as gta.
Almost all of these auto parts are from China, which gives me reason to suspect that carlinkit is a manufacturer of GTA in China. I followed gta YouTube how-to installation and it took less than two hours to get wireless CarPlay working flawlessly. I can only say that the carlinkitlife module I purchased saved me a lot.
