Hi y’all, my 2015 s class has the optional 3d surround burmester system and it’s great, I do have a few questions on it though. I listen
to a fair bit of rap/hip hop with a lot of base etc so to not blow the speakers I don’t usually listen to it that loud, but I swear when I put my ears near the bottom door speakers on all 4 corners (the large ones) I don’t hear sound. Is there a way to test this, I did buy extended warranty that covers the speakers so if I do have a problem I don’t mind getting it checked out. My settings are 5-5-7 and it’s on the 3d mode. Any advice will be appreciated!
thanks
I have a 2019 S63 with the 3D HE system and you should definitely be able to hear mid bass out of those lower door speakers. I did a few mods to my sub in the trunk and that helped a bit. I wrapped the sub enclosure in sound deadening and upgraded the sub to a Morel unit. Improved the bass a bit.

Reason: add pic

that looks great! Are those bottom large door speakers noticeable? What is your current setup in regards to sound mode etc
Door speakers are very noticeable. They vibrate at higher volumes. Set up is set to live on sound profiles, with driver focus on and eq set to 6-0-7 for bass, mid and highs.

hmmm I’ll have to turn it up
and see what’s going on then
I found live to sound the best. You should be hearing those speakers try it in live mode and see what you get. In 3d it does some weird things with the speakers. I never thought 3 d sounded that good.
Unfortunately I doubt the extended warranty would cover it at least if it’s the mb warranty. They hardly cover anything anymore. Maybe a good aftermarket car audio place or something. Maybe there’s a problem with one of the amps or something.
You might want to follow Superpop's eq settings and reduce the midrage a bit. Our ears are most sensitive to midranges so there's no need to boost them as much as highs and lows.
Trying again .... What kind of setting are you all using for 3D Burmester? Surround 3D? Surround? Or Live? I found 3D Burmester to be the best but Surround was also good and am still trying to learn the best setting and not sure about Bass and other settings to get the best out of the 3D Burmester sound system..

everyone is different in what they consider the best sound. its all preference. Just set it how it sounds best to you.
I used the Morel Primo 804 8" 4ohm sub in my factory sub box but I did have to make an adapter ring out of lexan to go from the speaker to the enclosure as the factory sub had an integrated mounting ring on the speaker. A bit of work but not too bad.
I’m interested in this upgrade as well. Looking for a bit more bass out of my 2018 S63 w/Burmester 3D. With the Morel Primo install, did you add any other electronics to drive the woofer or is that still being handled by the factory amp?

I did install a JL Audio VXi 1000/1 mono amp, the best you can buy for a sub in my opinion and drove it through an audio control line out converter running off the factory amp but it did not play well with the factory system. The problem with the High End Burmester is that it is really a closed environment with regards to signal processing so when you try and add to it, weird things happen. There are actually mics in the car that listen to the audio and adjust the outputs live. In my case the sub would hum but only with the windows up, no kidding. you roll a window down and the sub stops humming. It almost sounded like when you go from comfort to sport + mode and the exhaust flaps open up. It was bizarre, and not something I could tune out of the sub amp. So I ripped it all out and went back to the factory amps. The rear sub does sound pretty good though with the sound deadening and Morel sub. The other consideration is amp draw. The S63 only has a 189A alternator and the single JL amp was drawing every bit of 40A when the bass was hitting hard and I did not want to prematurely wear out my alternator. That is the problem with most hi current amps.
If you stream audio via bluetooth you can up the volume of that stream in the NTG Phone-menu. There is an option to increase the BT volume. In my FL it made quite a difference, i dont know if its there in the pré-FL.
Your JL Audio amp is actually 80A not 40A and i went WAY over board with my 15" sub l

I installed a 15" Orion HCCA 5k watt sub in enclosure and 6k watt amp to power it zero gauge cables and a controller up the front in ashtray with voltage read out so i can see voltage drop and has a clipping light so i can see when sub is being fed a dirty signal which i know is over kill but i dont use my boot and i can have as much or as little bass as i can humanly take!!!
1975benz, you are correct, I actually had 2 JL amps in my last car, the VXi 1000/1 and the VXi 800/8 with the 8 channel running mids and highs. total of 160 amp draw, way to much and I did not want to risk the electronics in the S63, plus with the Burmester HD, there are too many barriers to upgrade so I just sold it all. Got about what I had into it ironically as I purchased all the gear a few years ago before pricing went crazy.
