OUR NEW RIDE(s) - Good/bad/Congrats??!! *Rarely equipped*
So, we made some changes to our fleet. Some of you know that've been looking for a loaded 7-series M760 for some time (well, I have a surprise, things have changed a bit)
During the past 15 months until ~2-week ago: We had a 2019 530e, BWW X7 M50i and an Accord.
What new:
Sold: We solid the 2019 BMW 530e.
New toys: W222 Mercedes S560 4-Matic (replacing one X7); and pre-lci 2020 BMW X5 xDrive 40i (replacing the 530e).
Spec's of our new cars: 1. BMW X5 xDrive 40i:
Drive assist Pro; Luxury seating package; Executive package (including Panoramic Sky Lounge, Adaptive laser headlights, wireless charging, Front and Rear Heated seats; Heated armrests, cooled+massage seats, parking assist plus). We didn't find B&W, but we got the HK sound system which I personally liked.
This time being an in-town, short-medium trips, family/kids/school vehicle, we made sure to get the bench seat and darker interior!
Seats are different than all our previous cars: Coffee Extended Merino Leather (aka: dark interior).
So far, we love it; it's drives like a quick/light easy-to-push SUV.
2. The big boy, Mercedes S560 4-Matic (151K Original MSRP):
After serious thinking, I decided to get the S560 instead of M760. I wanted to prioritize comfort and luxury over sportiness, and I honestly wanted some diversity in our fleet now and I miss the MBenz ownership experience.
Car is highly highly highly optioned, and specs are awesome/rare (FULLY LOADED minus the refrigerator), got it from a car enthusiast and businessman who have had S-class cars for the past 20-30 years.
- Former owner never used rear seats, all accessories are still in their factory plastic wraps (remote controls/batteries/headphones/etc). Car smells new. Took me ~9-months of search for max/loaded S560 or BMW M760.
-Packages that worth mentioning:
<<~$46-50K USD in added packages/options, 151K original MSRP>>
AMG Line exterior $5,900
Designo Semi-Aniline Leather $6,500
Magic Sky Control: $4,950
Burmester HighEnd 3D Surround Sound System: $6,400
Now am leaving you with some pictures of the S560 as I was more excited about it than the X5 for now (probably nobody here cares about BMW here anyway). As a car enthusiast, typically my cars last ~1 to 1.5 years max which is why I always go with pre-owned low mileage, and in many cases, I buy from private owners when I can.
Would love to hear your thoughts. If you like the switch I made let me know, if you dislike it, feel free to criticize too (really) or talk trash about it - it will go away one-day so am never emotionally connected to my toys but would love to hear from u.
Huge huge huge thank you for many members here on this member who have helped me in the last 6-9 months of my search (some even sharing their cell phone to discuss/help). SPECIAL thanks to @SW20S , @Tom in Austin , @konigstiger and 2XSPECIAL thanks to @carlosinseattle who saved me from another S-class that I did not get as he made a trip to his local dealer shooting a video and inspecting a no-good S560 for me before I was going to drive 10hrs to get.

All jokes aside, what a beautiful car, congrats on your new purchase @S_W222 , my family would absolutely flip out for that interior (myself included!)

Thanks @will_atl . No it is Salentine Grey Metallic, lol. May I ask why did you think it said it was (or should be) Black? Better fit that executive interior :P? I think very dark colors on the S-class are classy but they are a little boring as they do not show (they hide) the nice exterior lines and muscular 3D geometry of the panels on the car. I actually had the Silver Palladium color for my former 2015, and like the Salentine Grey Metallic being the closest tot that color.

I'm boring and usually buy black cars, that's all, just personal preference
Fun fact: my S450 is Magnetite Black, when I saw it last year, there was a layer of pollen over it (almost a year ago) and out in the sun it looked very black. Over the last year I have noticed that depending on how the light is, it's looks gray or black, so I can go with gray too. kinda like my hair, the more I wash it the grayer it gets
Fun fact 2: my wife has a Selenite Grey Metallic GLS450, and I like the color, the pollen doesn't show up as much, but it does get dirty quickly.

Thanks!. Dark color including black look much better on the S-class, my point was just that slightly lighter color is my preference only because they allow the body lines of the vehicle to look more apparent. S-class has very nice body lines. Thanks for passing by and dropping comments. I am excited about my car and hope you all get to enjoy yours as well. The best or nothing, MBenz. Though I loved BMW technology better, but this true luxury is something else.
Please tell me there is a way to protect the rear seat from the child seat rubbing a wear spot in it.
Ha!, good point : ). I have 2 layers of protection. This is what I have now: 1. One (car-seat leather protector) layer from amazon installed right under and behind the seat not allowing the car seat to touch the seat at all, with some thin matrix of cushion in it. 2. One inch and a half (1.5") of polyester foam that I custom cut (same used inside a pillows or sofa) installer right under than (leather protector) as an added layer of foam to eliminate any intrusion or pressure from the car seat through the leather protector reaching the leather.
Car is fantastic ....do you intend to keep it in this garage
good question! I meant to complete finishing the garage up this past summer, but I have so many other projects that I couldn’t finish this one. We just moved recently to this home, and there were other stuff that had more priority to finish. Hopefully this summer it would look like a real garage that deserves this toy.
That’s equipped very close to mine although mine has the full chauffeur package which was like a 12k option. Mine was a former executive transport car. Got it with only 16k miles on it a couple of years ago for 80 grand. Was lucky I bought it then before the big used car price hike. Really like the car. Mine also has the magic body control which makes the ride very comfortable. I like the curve mode where the car leans like a motorcycles in corners.

That's awesome. Feels good to not miss any package/option. With kids and long trips , or parents around, the full chauffeur package would be an issue for us. I use my car for family trips and enjoy it to the max (we like large sedans on trips more than SUVs). We have had a GL, Navigator and X7 and now the X5, nothing is more comfortable than the S-class, so we need the rear seat space as much as possible, even sometimes for extra bags/luggage. As for MBC, I would have loved to have it but based on feedback from everyone here for my specific situation, the 4Matic seemed to be a must have for my area (3 months of snow) and also for re-sale value in my area too. Given that MBC comes only with RWD, that was outside my "filter" range when i was searching for vehicles. In all cases, it's hard to find what you want in the pre-owned market. This vehicle comes exactly as I would spec it if I was buying it new (but I would still consider RWD with MBC if we were in a different state).
I also prefer a sedan on a long trip, issue for us is space. Just not enough room in the trunk of the S Class for us to take it on a long trip, and we have the dog now so that doesn't work...gotta take the van...

Has anyone here tried the Thule Force XT L Roof Box or something like that on the S-class, or is that not an option?
Ya agree on the chauffeur package I would not have ordered the car that way but jumped on it with all the other options. And yes too bad the magic body control is only 2wd. Beautiful car you have there though.
@2012 merc amg I went ahead and sold my X7 in two days to make sure I get it before it goes away. Took a week to finish my paperwork though but seller was a very nice gentleman who patiently waited until am ready. I bought it site unseen (seemed an honest seller that I trusted) and I was very happy when it arrived and happier after I had a local mechanic to check it over for me.
It feels awkward when switching daily-drive from an SUV to Sedan and even more awkward when it’s a BMW to Mbenz (two opposite extremes) but am happy with the end results.
Congrats, that's a proper decision to buy a W222 in any sense as well
Exterior color is awesome but I'm not fan of cream interiors but you know that's all personal thingy
Happy Driving
