Weird situation…obd port

So last night I tuned my car. Background: 17 s550w4, 13k miles clean carfax.

I noticed the obd port hanging by the hood release behind a trim panel, rather than in the normal location under the dash.

anyone seen this or have any idea why this would be? I can’t imagine it being an ecu out situation, would an aftermarket alarm or remote starter hit the obd harness at all?

Did you even read my post?

yes, I know that’s where it should be. Mine is hanging down and to the left by the bottom of the a pillar/dead pedal by the kick panel.

I read it, and it needs to be installed correctly.

obviously it isn’t where it belongs. The question was to see if anyone had seen something like this before or discuss reasons it may be there for the purpose of understanding if there may be more I need to investigate or fix at the same time.

You need to get in there and can get it clicked back into the proper location in kons* posted video. Grab some towels and line the door frame, your back will thank you.

the obd2 connector gets dislodged regularly in my work cars (fords) and I click it back in when I get a chance.

It's not a good idea to get sassy with Konig. He's the most helpful member on this board and the best resource we have.

I’ve been around this forum on and off a long time. I know all about Konig and appreciate the help he’s able to provide in most situations.

I took it as a flippant “RTFM” to post a video showing the location of the port after I clearly described the situation and the ask. Obviously I know where the thing is supposed to be, I tuned the damn car and it’s not my first rodeo. I wasn’t happy with the implication and that’s why I responded the way I did, same as I would to any member who’s reply would come across that way.

A lot of members are only trying to help and alianating them is not a good idea. Remember no one is getting paid here so all help is provided on goodwill alone. Sometimes we have limited time or might not understand a post, when this happens ask for more help or add clarifying info but please avoid posting a combative response.

BTW your initial post was not really clear to me on what you meant.

Based on just 300+ posts in 11+ years, it seems that you're more of an "off" member than an "on" member. Konig is here all the time and he's NEVER been "flippant" to anybody. If you were a regular participating member of this forum, you'd probably know that. It wasn't obvious by your post that you know where the OBD port was supposed to be since you said it was just hanging in a different spot. You never said that it was in the correct spot when you hooked up a tuner before. If it was, then how the heck would it automatically relocate itself? Did you take it to a shop where they did some work to your car and never put it back together? Some more details, which you didn't provide might have afforded you a different response from Konig since you didn't mention how it got that way.
