Height adjustment coding remains the most uncomfortable one though. Remote coding even when only the c able is needed is good, but I found myself needed to adjust it more than often and it's just not efficient to keep calling your coder to remove it, So decided to go with modules from mwmods when I had my W222 and I felt it's the best compromise for that particular service.
Always good to have another coding option especially with some real user feedback. Thanks for posting your experience.

I don't see it that way and will remove other unprovoked posts.
His post was referring to a member that has not been validated in any way and has only become a sponsor months after the post.
While his post was poorly worded, letting anyone unverified onto a computer is indeed taking a risk.

Letting someone in to your laptop is indeed a risk. Letting an unknown laptop (or any device) connect to your home network is even worse unless you have VLANS set and secure networks separated.

Best would be to quickly fire-up a dual boot of windows and wifi tether to your phone.
Once coding is done just wipe the dual boot or keep for later use.

BTW most (or all) remote coding is done with a screen overlay or screen blanking and one would not see what's going on while coding is done.

Great suggestions and agreed specifically on the point that letting any unkown PC or rented PC is even worse. I’d rather have my own device, which in my case, I got one same day for 90 bucks from Walmart and that’s all I needed.. at least it is technically my own PC, nothing personal on it at all and secured for that purpose. On another note I found Max to be trustworthy, and his coding method which is fully remote and using my own device that I can choose to connect to my home wifi is the type of security I felt comfortable with.

As someone else mentioned, Max also video called me after service was done; great to personalize the service that way and to see the person working for on your car. I was happy with the service and glad it helped many forum members here and even greater to see Max himself become a forum sponsor now. That’s what makes a great forum; good people helping& working with good people.

We do not use screen blanking or any screen overlay. We have our own developed app which connects the remote coding device to us.

You are welcome to scan this app for malware or viruses. Although easier, we also dont need to remote control your laptop, you can just download our app and key in the connection code.

That's great. More coding options better for the community.

"BTW most (or all) remote coding is done with a screen overlay or screen blanking and one would not see what's going on while coding is done."

This is not entirely correct.

For coding I know that both myself and RJ (as well as likely others) install only a Software based USB Extension and that's it.

It *only* allows us to extend a USB device of your choosing (like the Openport plugged into your car) and our tools see it as a device plugged into our own machine. It then allows us to use our own tools as if we were connected directly.

All the Mercedes, and other coding software is on our side and on our machine.

No viruses, no other file transfers, no screen blanking, nothing. Just a simple usb extension.

Also just wanted to say it's an Honor to be in the same thread as BenzNinja, RJ, EleBest etc - it's like the united nations of coding and retrofits up in here!

That reminds me, and it seems pretty similar, to my experience with Max from Elebest… Anyway, regardless, as I indicated before to me I also agree that I’d rather not connect any unkown device whatsoever to my local Wifi no matter who that person is. Paid coding, free surviving coding, well known, unkown coder, I don’t care… I’d rather always use my own device that I know what software is on it or so, and to be even safer, I simply got a 90 bucks laptop from Walmart so that each time I need to code something, I use that and it doesn’t even have anything on it but it is still my own laptop. Even better, it is readily available immediately.
With time and experience with different coders, you start to get a feeling of who is nasty and greedy, and who is trust worthy, all based on your own interactions and experience, and u go from there with whoever u trust. But in all cases, it’s always best to play it really safe which is why I use my own device/laptop, and even better one that is just used for coding, cheapest option at Walmart 90 bucks, i keep it forever, any-time anywhere within minutes I can call in my coder for anything needed. Simple and still safe.

Several things:
  • Can ILS+ be enabled at a lower speed adoption like 15mph?
  • In non-US markets I've seen a function where you press and hold the air recirculation button and any open windows will close. If you do it again by turning it off, the windows will go back to their original open positions.
  • RPM rainbow gauge on HUD
  • Flashing emergency brake function: when braking hard can any of the brake lights flash like you might see in Europe?
  • I read somewhere on here that Euro headlights are brighter by default (I think 13%), that would be nice to code.

A item Benz ninja offers. Took some of the stiffness out of the comfort setting.

  • I read somewhere on here that Euro headlights are brighter by default (I think 13%), that would be nice to code. Yes. Once your headlamps are coded to EURO, instead of SAE, then your headlamps will function in every way as the European lamps do. Not only will your high beams then be 13% brighter than U.S. spec, your low beams will then become dynamic, with dramatic improvements to the beam pattern, tailored to the driving circumstances. Mercedes uses the terms "City Light" mode vs. "Motorway Light" mode, for example. There is also added functionality for roundabouts, plus an "Adverse Weather" lighting mode, when it's raining. Sadly, we can't access the "Fog mode" in the U.S. W222, since it is triggered via the rear fog lamp switch, which we don't get in the U.S. This video illustrates:

I know Benzninja can activate the fog mode in ILS+, he did so in my 2015.
You might want to reach out to him via his website to see if he can enable your rear fog light switch.

I'm certain fog mode is activate with RJ as well. Shortly after having mine coded, I drove in windy, dark mtn roads and the ILS+ was amazing. Later that drive, I was driving in dense fog (maybe 5 car length visibility), still driving above 25mph, the ILS+ kept the road lit just enough to not have any unnecessary light reflect back to me from the fog. The high beams never activated while driving above the threshold speed limit while fog was present.
