Recent Extended Warranty experiences
I end the end of this month, I want to at least price it out, I don't drive the car a ton, bought with 32k now at 41k after 4 years, I have 2 other vehicles so MB doesn't got out when raining or into danger (like going into San Francisco).
Any recent people purchase? I haven't totally decided yet but worried about the big $$ that can happen, I do plan to keep car for another 5-6 years, I was thinking about selling and buying another 2019 or 2020 S560 but doesn't make sense.

No warranty here, but front end suspension would be my focus. Car is a brute and built to run.
Other than that, maybe, cover electrical gremlins….?
Just curios……why are you forecasting a need for coverage on a car that doesn’t drive that much?
Good luck on your search.

I would not consider an extended warranty for the W222. I have about 80K miles combined between my former S550 and my current S560, that were all free of any serious issues. I had 75K on the S550 before I sold it, and now about 3K personal miles on the S560.

I was not impressed with the new S580. I didn't think it was worth the extra $70K over my fully loaded 2020 S560. So I purchased my 2020 S560 out of the lease with 38,704 miles on it and paid $4750 for Mercedes' ELW warranty which covers the car for 7 years from the date of the original purchase or up to 100,000 miles whatever comes first. I also prepaid for maintenance $2890.00 to cover 30,000 additional miles (3 services) which will include the large (expensive) service at 60,000 miles. Pre-paying for maintenance usually saves about 40%. Currently the car has about 45,000 miles on it (so its still under he original factory warranty) and I had 3 sensors/parts go bad. The result was to change the Timing sensor on the flywheel, the transmission sensor plate under the transmission cover and the thermostat. The S560 is amazing and so far, those were the only issues i've had. But as I add miles on the car, I expect that even though its a Mercedes and it's well built, it will need some repairs. So I gambled and purchased Mercedes ELW (Mercedes' extended warranty)

My ELW 7 years and 100k miles. I’ve got 18 months left. Aside from peace of mind I’ve not got much to show for the $4k plus I spent on the ELW. These cars are very reliable.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
It seems like the Mercedes ELW's use to be good but I'm finding with my car it does not seem to cover much of anything anymore. Had I had it to do over again I would not have waisted the 4K I spend to extend my factory warranty an extra couple of years. I think Chances are pretty low that major issues happen with these cars within the first 80K miles or so.

S560 Long 4Matic (DE) MY 2018
I guess it depends on what is covered by it. I've mentioned my warranty experiences in other topics, with the most recent being my brakes and how they replaced discs and pads for free.
Regardless, I would personally never buy a new-ish used Mercedes without the best warranty I can get. I don't wrench and I don't want to have to learn on such a car, so I will pay extra to have as much peace of mind as possible. Just make sure it covers the important parts (i.e. those that are expensive to fix when they break).

Thanks all I was out of town for a few days, I did also buy the 2 year extension along with 3 years of service which I got for $4700 and the service alone paid for that. I will look around but leaning to just going without a warranty.
