2015 S class

I have a 2015 S class with about 61k miles. A few days ago I filled up with gas (only up to about 90%). After driving for about 10 minutes, the check engine light came on and the engine began running rough. I was only a couple of miles from home so I headed there and parked in my garage. After letting the car sit for a couple of days, I drove it again this morning and it is running fine. No check engine light, no warnings, everything is running smoothly. Just curious as to whether anyone has any thoughts on what could have caused this occurrence with the check engine light and rough engine etc. Is this anything I should be alarmed about and get checked out? I have a diagnostic machine but didnt hook it up to try to grab codes while the check engine light was on. Has anyone had this happen to them? Does anyone know any possible causes? Any and all responses will be appreciated.
BTW, I get gas from the same station pretty much everytime...
Thanks,

Did you leave the car running while you filled up?

In my 2016 S550 Coupe I had the Check Engine light come on twice for a few days each time. But the car ran OK so I waited until the car was in the shop for regular scheduled service. FWIW the shop said that it was a bad thermostat that wasn't consistently allowing the engine to achieve optimum operating temperature. That didn't sound completely plausible to me but the problem hasn't reappeared so perhaps it's true.

I have a 2015 s550. Had a similar issue. Filled the tank a bit later check engine light came on. I didn’t experience any malfunctions.Searched around and was told to check the filler cap. Could be not properly tightened… could be not properly venting. I had to switch the cap out at 18k but this solved my issue.

Mine is a W212 but might be relevant. One time I filled up at Costco and could not get the car to restart and had to push it away from the pumps. I ended up leaving the car overnight in the Costco parking lot. The next day I went back to the car and it started and ran fine but there was a check engine light that I had the code pulled for. The code was for an Evaporation system valve. I had the check engine light come on for that again can't remember if the car ran poorly or not but eventually fixed it by cleaning the valve which was located under the hood with some WD40.

My W212 had a similar thing as well. It turned out to be a turbo pressure sensor or valve . Since then I had used nothing but premium fuel and no more check engine lights until I sold it . My advice is you should still have the codes checked by dealer or indie shop in that such codes can go away but still can be stored in the system so a $30 code reader might not be able to retrieve those according to my experience

I had the sudden rough runnig for no apparent reason, followed by the check engine light, followed by everything working fine no check engine light issue too. I even connected mine to Mercedes Xentry to see what stored codes there were and there weren't any! It happened several times and finally (apparently I drove it far enough with the Check Engine light on) it stored a code for a bad ignition coil on cylinder 6! I just replaced all the coils and man is the car smooooooth. FCP has a set for around $400 if I remember correctly.

Exactly, that's why I replaced the whole set.
