What model and what mileage?

What 222 do you own and what is its mileage?

I'm just about to hit 75.000 miles in the S560 4matic and I do debate if I should get rid of it before problems start. Also a reason why I'm curious about other mileages.

S65. 134,000 miles. Regular maintenance stuff. No drama. I don’t consider a water pump drama.

Nice, speaks to that engines reliability. I've been quite intrigued by the 12 cylinder engines for a while. They are quite rare in Europe because of the high fuel cost. Especially the S600 is very rare. Feels like it is found more in armoured than regular cars here.

I feel for you; the Autobahn beckons but to really enjoy it a fortune is spent on fuel.

My 279.... Zero oil leaks.... no issues that are not just maintenance. The bent 12 was proven before MB gave it the updates it deserved. Such a shame our ‘friends in government’ are taking choices from us.

'20 GLS450, '17 S550 Sedan
'17 S550 4-MATIC, 58k miles. No engine/transmission issues. Still under CPO warranty for another 1.5 years, so will definitely enjoy for at least that much longer. May decided to look around for another CPO W222 at that point, likely '19 or '20 S560. Could choose to keep longer and purchase aftermarket warranty (I sleep better with warranty coverage...), since it will be difficult to duplicate the combination of a few hard-to-find options I have now:

811 - $6,400 Burmester High-End 3D Sound System.
325 - $3,000 Rear Seat Package:
305 : PRE-SAFE Belt Buckle
306 : Rear Seatbelt Airbags (Outboard Seats)
439 : EASY Adjust Headrest
452 : Chauffeur Package Rear
582 : Rear Automatic Climate Control (4-Zone)
864 - $2,650 Rear Seat Entertainment: Kids can listen to separate music sources via COMAND remote control, through individual wireless headsets. DVD works great too, but they're more into music these days (Sat Radio or Bluetooth Spotify).

Happy Motoring!

It is crazy how long that base engine has been around for. I test drove a W221 600 once. It felt like a train when it accelerated, so effortless. Also had beautiful designo interior, leather and alcantara everywhere. 12-15mpg is crazy though. Especially if I compare it to the current V8's. Of course you can't really replace a V12 with anything but power wise the V8s are not far off. If I was living in the US and didn't need 4wd I'd drive a V12 as well.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I have a 2018 S560 Sedan with 65K miles on it, not too many issue and what there was covered under warranty. Thinking about keeping it and driving it over 100K miles, maybe up to 200K. Love the car. It drives super nice and has just about every option, gonna be a little nervous when 2025 hits and the warranty runs out but I'll deal with it whatever happens.

WOW, I didn't expect that . I have seen a couple of S63 AMGs with an engine replacement at such mileage . Nice to hear yours running greatly
Happy Driving

I can extend the CPO until 2027. What it does not cover here is leaks and other parts that wear. Suspension is a big one since I have the Airmatic. I have not heard much issues with that in the 222 though. Used to be a big issue always.

The thing that scares me is cylinder wall scoring. I guess if that happens it’s new engine time. Not sure why it happens to some but not others at higher mileages. Having something like that happen could make me upset I hung onto the car long term.

About 4 years in total ownership experience with the W222....

Pre-facelift W222 all the way up to 77K --> Not a single major repair or visit to service beside transmission software update "about 3 visits"; Fuel charcoal canister at 60K miles, and needed upper & lower control arm around 77K miles.
Facelift W222 from low 30sK to about 38-39k --> not a single visit to the dealer.

Are they any reports of that on the M176 motors?

2020 S450 4Matic, 2022 GLS450 4Matic, 2015 C300
2019 S450, 67k miles.
Went through some brakes using Distonic a lot when I first got it, otherwise service items, brakes, and tires. I’ve had it since 39k miles.
20” rims have cracks, I have had two repairs done in my ownership.
Windshield replaced, my fault!
Drivers door window switch unit replaced under warranty.
Dealer fried a communication module doing an update.
No engine issues, yet.
I do have a Mercedes Extended Limited Warranty thru to 100k.

2015 MB S550 & 2020 MB GLS 450
2015 S550 with 25,000 miles. Purchased in 2019 with 6,200 miles.
Enjoying my 2020 GLS450 so much, I'm strongly considering selling the S550.

While off topic, interesting. I was thinking about getting a GLS for the whole family and getting rid of the S. Now we got a family van instead and I am keeping the S. The GLS is just a bit too big for Germany. My SWB S-Class is already challenging to park sometimes.

Over 20+ years I had five Acura MDXs as a daily driver, with older Lexus LS sedans as an alternative. In 2019 I bought the S550, liked it so much that last November I bought a loaded 2020 GLS 450. Given its level of luxury and ride, I find I am not driving the S550 as much.
As for size, while the GLS is a couple of inches wider, it is 1.5 inches shorter than the S550.
