against my better judgement (and on a friend's recommendation, I took my 2019 W222 S560 for an interior detail. It's 4 years old !. I left it at the detailer who said it would take about 4 to 6 hours.
I cam back to collect the car and was told they had a mis-hap. The detailer mistakenly had his rotary buffer speed too high and when he tried to remove some swirl marks from my sliding trim cover that slides over the central console cup holders, it burned the surface / melted it leaving deep gouge marks. They were very very upset as indeed I was. It's just a car. Anyway .... Mercedes have ordered the part. An eye watering price !!!!
I wanted your collective help to see (I am reasonable handy with taking apart and putting back trim etc. (I also fitted my own dash cams) if anyone could source the EPC / WIS system for instructions on how to replace this part. I prefer not to if I can help it have a dealer staff rip out the centre console etc, introducing, other rattles etc.
The Part Number is A222 810 0829
My VIN is WDD2220832A51615
I hope you get this figure out. I've removed the center console, which was really easy, but I don;t remember seeing instructions on how to remove that sliding door. Again, good luck. If it were me I'd let the dealer do it.
Any chance you shed light on the procedure for installing dash cams? Did you install them front and rear, and what camera(s) did you use. I'd love to find out.
A friend and I installed the dash cams.
It was important that I find especially a rear dash cam that was slimline enough so that the rear automatic unblind cleared it on the way up.
The dash cam models we used were the Blackvue from and rear cams model 900 S
I can send you the installed final images if you want
Sure, I'd love to see how your finished installation looks. I had a W223 as a loaner car about a year ago and loved the integrated front dash cam setup, wish there was a retrofit for the W222. Just checked Amazon for the cameras you have and the price looks reasonable, thanks!!
So, no one can help me with the WIS Manual or instruction to remove and replace my W222 S560 2019 Sliding Trim Cover that slides over the cup holders on the central console ??
I've checked WIS, and cannot find a replacement method for the cover door.
It seems that the entire center console must be removed to get to it.
Thank you Dmatre.
I bought a new trim panel to march my original trim colour options.
For all you forum members out there who have S Classes... watch out if you need replacement trim of any kind... This small (almost plastic panel cost me $1109 Australian Dollars (About $775 USD).
Anyway, since I had a new replacement trim cover, I thought, what the heck, lets see if I can polish out the deep scratches.
Well, with my Dewalt drill on medium speed and some (specialist) automotive restorative polish (the sort one uses with a mini rotary buffer to remove swirls and clear coat scratches) I went at it after covering up the entire dash and seat so there was no polkaing over spray.
Result - The trim cover is almost new now. Scratched not visible even in the sun.
Moral of the story - The trim cover panels are very soft and scratch easily. And yet, they can be polished back up again.
I now have an expensive trim that I don't need and can't give back... may keep it to spruce up the car when / If I sell it...
PS - I have my B5 Service at the dealership on Monday. Out of curiosity I shall ask what the labour rate would be to replace this panel (I did buy the part from them !) (Curiosity may kill this cat). I will feed back the rate :-)
