Another map update - anyone get the email?
I just did an update a few months ago. Why another one so soon? This came in a fairly generic email. I can do it at dealer or download myself like last time. I see no version anywhere. Last time I downloaded everything I could.

Yes, this is V.26. Updates come out about every 6 months. Last one was V.25 in July.

There was supposed to be a major road project in my neighborhood. It has been delayed. I naively hoped there would be updates in a year or so. How long does it take for updates to get into this map? 2-3 years?

You don't have to do anything unless you wanna update other regions besides your home region. The latter is updated automatically via OTA update. As for road projects making it into updates, that probably depends on where you live and how often your area is being mapped. There was a highway project here that finished just around when I first got my car and it was in the next update to the maps.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I have a 2018 s class sedan. It looks like it says auto updates in the system menu. Is the 2018 able to do over the air map updates? I still have the original v13 that came with the car in 2018. The dealer tells me over 200 dollars to update it there. If I can do over the air map updates anyone know how much it is to do so from the mb App Store? I know my 2019 e450 does ota updates. It’s been a couple years since updated. I know the mb App Store gets 150 a year the ability to do so. Next year I’ll probably spend the money to do that car. It just seems unclear as to whether my 2018 S class has this capability as it uses the Mercedes me and not the connect like the 2019 app. Yet it does say auto updates in the system menu? If I can’t do OTA updates with my 2018 what is the most cost effective way to update my old V13? Can a map update SD card be purchased?

You look in the car under System | Software updates. My guess is that the installation is still in progress. It will say installed once it finished. However if you did the manual update, then it skips the OTA update and it will say not installed. Both V25 and V26 say not installed in the app for me, because I preempted it both times with the manual update.
I just got excited thinking my butler could just check the app.
How long does OTA install take? One hour? My car was on last night.

OTA takes a long time like days of driving. Very slow. Lots of data to load. The more I look at it with my 2018 I think it’s just OTA software and not maps. I guess maps started in 2019 OTA? Question is what’s the best way to upgrade my 2018 maps. I’ve had two dealers tell me there are no updated maps for this model year. Doesn’t sound right?

Take out the USB key when done or it will keep telling you there is an update. It doesn’t say “I’ve already done this.”

OTA takes forever. The installation only runs when the car is running. It pauses as soon as the car is parked. So depending on how often you drive, it takes days or weeks. The manual full update for all the maps is much faster. Only takes about 30 minutes. I started my recent one in the garage with the electronics turned on. After about 10 minutes it was at 25% and I stopped. Next day I had to run an errand and it finished while I was doing the errand.

Well the OTA update was running 1-2 days ago and got to 16%. I checked. Today I get in the car and it says 2%. I previously did a manual USB update of all 8 regions. Of course I can do another manual update but I'd like to know what is going on.

Every time you get into the car it starts back at 0% in my experience, then checks how far it got last time and eventually skips ahead and continues where it left off last time. It's just par of the course. As said, the OTA update takes a long time, so you can either wait it out or skip it and do the manual update. I mainly do the manual update, because I drive so little these days that the OTA update never seems to finish.

Hey you guys. I have a problem. OTA restarted at 2%. Even after 1 hour of driving it was still at 2%. And I can’t seem to cancel it. I did turn off auto update in the car thinking that maybe it would restart tomorrow when I turn it back on.
Yea I can do a manual update but since I have a warranty I’d like to see it work. Is there a building full of technical people I could take my car to? How would you find such a place?
I wish mbconnect could help with this.

They've worked for me back in 2019/2020 and installed in a fairly reasonable time, but it seems they've gotten larger or something. Back then the OTA updates only updated the map data. There's also a voice recognition update that is part of the map update, but to get that you had to do the manual install. It specifically said so on the website. That's actually the main reason I started to do the manual updates. When they redesigned the website, that disclaimer was removed, so I suspect the OTA updates now also include the voice recognition update and that may have slowed it down significantly.

EDIT: 2/28, Navigation update is done. It finally completed while I was not watching it. This morning it was at 98% on a 30 minute drive. Then at lunch I checked and it was done. This is after driving about 3-4 hours with it at 98%. At least it's done now.
My update is stuck on 98%. This is weird. I’ll drive a few hours next week. Anyone see this?
Here in Raleigh it's been hard to talk to my Service Advisor. I finally got her on the phone this morning only for her to say "I have someone else here, call you later." Well I've been leaving voicemail for a few weeks.
I know how to do this manually because I did it before. I just think on a Mercedes-Benz, things should work like they are supposed to. lol
I wish there was a way to stop or restart the navigation update. I even looked to see if I could turn off 4G LTE to interrupt it. I can't. All I get is the checkbox on "do Automatic Navigation updates". I turned that off previously but it had no effect on the existing update getting stuck.
