Am I the only one who thinks Mercedes really dropped the ball on the new '21+ S-Class?
The outside looks lifeless...
The headlights are boring...
The taillights would be nice if they didn't have that reverse triangle look - I just don't get that...
Mercedes knocked it out of the park, however, with the new wheel designs...
The inside tablet design just looks out of place - and like a Tesla...
I like the tablet idea - it just needed to be put into the interior in a better way...
The four main air vents (a Mercedes trademark) being all together, all by themselves, and on the upper-dash looks very awkward.
Other than that, the interior looks nice - especially the addition of a rear tablet (to catch up to Audi and BMW).
Just my .02

yep. agree bang-on with ya, polo1. i've owned two or three new iterations of every chassis s-class of the 7-year run since the bruno sacco masterpiece w126 up to the third and final 222 (when i stopped buying the s-class with my 2020 s560) for the exact reasons you framed up. i will indeed look at the refresh in '25, but am not holding out much hope as i think the days of my buying new s-classes are over. sadly. more to say but streamliner has covered it all. extensively. i'm clearly not benzo's target buyer anymore.

I had a W223 loaner car around this time last year and we had one of those weather events where it rained really hard, then it turned to freezing rain. That resulted in a 1/8-1/4" inch layer of ice on the car. When I walked up to the car the door handles "tried" to slide out into their useable positions. I hear cracking, crunching, and squeaking sounds for around 3 seconds and 3 out of 4 made it out, but the rear right never worked again. Luckily it was a service loaner; I would have been pissed off if it had been my car.

I remember when I was shopping for my W222 hearing the car described as "majestic". I just can't see someone calling the W223 "majestic" .... it's a very nice car, but somehow isn't as impressive.

I like the exterior of the normal cars but not what they did with the 63s.
Not a fan of the interior, especially where is the wood??

I agree with those points here, W222 is superior to W223 when parked side by side . I don't like its interior either , the display is the worst ever in a Mercedes-Benz same . I want to see W223 facelift models will get a better display same as W214 E Class

I am one of the most loyal MB buyers with over 30 years of buying new S Class cars with my most recent S Class being a 2019 S63 AMG that I did European Delivery with picking it up in Sindelfingen Germany and shipping it back to the US. Simply put--MB has completely lost it's way. They seem to not be able to get out of their own way. Where is the 2024 S63 E Performance--so I can atleast determine if I should replace my S63 with the new model? Where is the new 2024 2 Door AMG GT? At the top end of the market, MB seems like they don't care about S Class buyers and the higher end AMG buyers anymore. They would rather sell $40k volume cars--in this market there are better cars than MB's fleet--just my 2 cents. I would love to buy a new car like the 2020 AMG GTR but they don't make it anymore so instead my first GM purchase since 1993 was a 2021 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray followed by 2 2023 C8 Z06 flat plane crank cars (current own the 2 Z06s). Wow these GM cars beat the pants off the MB available alternatives currently--WHERE ARE YOU Mercedes Benz?

Personally, I agree. It feels like Mercedes doesn't necessarily understand why people were buying S-Class vehicles before. While I'm sure the quality is fine, the design of the front cabin lacks the stately appear that prior iterations had. It feels extremely modern, and similar to all the other models they offer. The seats look very nice, but the console and dash need a redesign in my option.
Also, I don''t care for the rear taillight designs.
