tire, 2022 S580

On the same axle you want to keep same tire and similar wear ~25%. The further you deviate from this the less predictable handling dynamics become.

I know BMW in some newer models too , uses different tires for front and rear but they are same brand on same axis as well
I have seen Hankook as factory equipment even in A Class but if W223s come with that I would like to think :
1- Hankook as tire manufacturers has been making great tires , we can talk about a huge improvement
2- Mercedes-Benz don't want to splurge money on tires and want to cut some corners
I hope it to be about the option #1

The same thing happened on our '18 S560 a couple of years ago. For two reasons, we put four new tires on it: one, the tire dealer, who, of course, was going to have a much larger sale, (I would have done the same thing.0 felt it was better, and two, due the mileage/read on the other three tires, it made sense to me,
You didn't miles or treads - you pays your money and makes your choice!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
1. AWD. The AWD system supposedly needs similar tread depth at all 4 corners otherwise it can cause long term damage to the system. Do we 100% believe this? I dunno..we have staggered wheels and tires and the fronts or rear run out faster than the other axle all the time, nobody worries about that and the AWD system...
2. Traction differentials. Different tread designs shed water differently and have different handling characteristics. Is it a good idea to have different traction characteristics at the front than the rear? I wouldn't think so. Is it good to have different traction characteristics from the right side to the left side on the same axle? I wouldn't think so even more.
3. Jankiness. Having mismatched tires is just...janky. For all the money one spends on a car like this, surely an additional $1,000 for 3 matching tires won't break the bank. Or at least one additional tire that matches the one you're replacing that still matches the remaining two.
We had two flat tires on a brand new Chrysler Pacifica last fall, on a trip.1,200 miles on it.
Had it towed to a local WV WalMart which was the only option, all they had were crappy off brand tires, so I bought two. When I got home, I ordered 4 high quality name brand tires (the OEM tires were also crappy Nexens) and threw away the two offbrand tires I had just bought and the two remaining crappy Nexens. Tires are the only thing that connects the car to the road. Not a place to skimp IMO. To me, this would be a great opportunity to ditch those crappy Hankook tires that MB should be ashamed to have put on the car in the first place and get a great set of high quality Michelins, Pirellis etc.
