Looking at a 2015 S550 coupe

Its hit 98000 miles and custom laglrger paddle shifters. I can guess it probably was drove, but its 28900. Interior seems clean, door window switch didnt work, but no lights, engine sounded great, I can't drive it until next week though. 2 cosmetic damages to the insurance.

Im planning on driving this alot so im not looking for mint. But I would like to know if there's any issues with these in higher mileage. Being the flagship it should last a long time shouldn't it?

As a curious question, how close to the tires or the fenders supposed to be? Making sure the air suspenaion is fine.

Have dealer or independent mb mechanic look it over. Any repairs and maintenance will likely be expensive. Not sure about parts availability since it is discontinued and 10 years old. If they were still making them then this would be my car.

I can't organize that. They'll just say no its a dealership. I mean there's gotta be parts online right?

Looks nice! Have them repair the window/switch and give it a test drive. Does the dealer offer a "X" day return?

I wouldn't be worried about the mileage as it is a 10 year old car. Have them print the service records for it and look for any patterns of repeated repairs.

Get lemonsquad out there. Its not as good as a dealer inspection on a lift, but its better than nothing.
If you cannot get a car inspected, dont buy it. A car like this can become a $20k money pit really quickly.

Does it come with 2 keys? If not, a new one will set you back a grand so if you decide to purchase it, have them reduce the price or provide the 2nd key and make sure they have it programmed to the car.

There is no such thing as a cheap, high mileage 10 year old flagship Mercedes. Records and documented history of service are critical in a situation like this, along with a very thorough PPI. If the dealer balks at a PPI walk away. Need to look for oil in harnesses, leaks in airmatic system, and worn suspension components. Parts for this car are still expensive along with labor. If you are comfortable wrenching then it could be a good deal if it was well taken care of. Aftermarket paddle shifters are a huge red flag for me as that means someone thought it was a race car, and probably treated it as such.

You can play fast and loose buying a 10 year old Lexus. But do the same here and as others have told you, $10-20k of deferred maintenance could be hidden in there waiting for you.

Get it checked it or walk away....

I'll second the paddle shifters. Last owner could have abused it.

That dealership has a lot of Mercedes so they should provide all of the documentation you request.

Was this engine also affected by the RMS? I forgot.

OP, ask for a vehicle master inquiry (VMI).

Valuable and great advices covered here . I honestly would have not thought that aftermarket paddles are a huge red flag in terms of abusing any car but I personally find them not appealing as well. I would concentrate on the wheel / tire set up besides .
Yes, if 2nd key is lost there's a huge price and ordeal in the store .
You can buy another car like this although this once looks very lovely too

Can you wrench on this car yourself? If so, budget at least $2000 in the first year or two for parts. You can get parts online at dealers, FCP Euro is also a good site.
Parts are expensive, but labor is very expensive.

if you cannot do at least your own services, $10,000 just to get everything in order would not be out of the question.
There are going to be things that go bad once you start driving the car. Its just the way things are. When people plan on selling cars they stop fixing things. When you then drive the car those things start showing up.
I am not trying to scare anyone, this is from personal experience, and the $2,000 is probably on the very low end.

OEM thermostat for that car is $400. One water pump is $400. Other one is $300. (has two). Camshaft solenoid kit is $400.
Plugs and coils are $600. Just the parts if you do it yourself. Each shock is between $1000 and $1500.
These are just normal things you might have to replace at this mileage.
