Parts diagram needed

My daughter drove me home from the hospital, in the process she made a wrong turn and turned around in some business’s steep entrance way too fast. She hit the pavement on the front edge with the chrome strip breaking it off in a couple pieces. I went to the MB dealer parts department and they looked at the damage and said that chrome edge is 3 parts and that’s all I need. The parts came today but when I compared it to the broken parts I see Black plastic pieces with tabs that the chrome parts snap on to. Please forgive my description.
I need to know what I’m up against to fix everything and need to see what that Black plastic part looks like before I get under the car and find some surprise. If anyone can show the front end parts for the front air dam, ground effects, or spoiler (I don’t know what it’s called sorry) it would be greatly appreciated.

2018 S560 with AMG appearance option. Thank you.

I did manage to find a diagram from eBay but it’s certainly not clear to me for the parts in question.

Nobody can help?
I think the parts guy at the dealer doesn’t know what this part is about. I removed the broke off Black plastic pieces on the broken chrome parts and it doesn’t look like it’s part of the bumper cover.

The parts catalogs (EPC et al) do not have part numbers or descriptions with the illustrations. You might consider a subscription to Xentry Part (https://www.starktekinfo.com) where you can enter your VIN and get the exact parts for your car.

Another option is to use the Mercedes online parts catalog, here's the section for the front bumper of a 2018 S560;

On the parts that you were able to remove, were their parts numbers on the back?

I had a lot of this apart on my car a few months back but honestly cannot remember what pieces go where. I remember the two curved outboard chrome pieces attach to the bumper cover. I think the panel under the engine that you remove to change the oil may go all the way up to the bumper cover but the cover itself attaches via two ouboard bolts and not to that panel. My best suggestion would be to take off the panel below the engine and look to see if there's something in front of it that might hold the center chrome piece.

Wish I could be more help ...

Got it. You’ll need the black plastic mounting pieces behind the chrome trim. Check the MB parts diagram (realoem.com or ask the dealer for an exploded view) to see the full assembly. The AMG front apron/splitter may have hidden clips or screws, so inspect carefully before snapping the new chrome parts in. A body shop or MB specialist could confirm if more parts are needed.

I can’t believe this situation hasn’t happened more often and so far it’s a complete mystery to all the MB professionals I talked to so far.
It’s funny but 15 minutes - just before I wa

The parts department guy is telling me the black plastic part the chrome trim fits into IS a separate piece in the S550 but the 560 has those attachment tabs built into the bumper cover. I have a project on the lift right now so I can’t look under the car yet (I’m injured so I can’t get down on the ground and I tried to explain to my 22 year old to take some pictures for me but that’s s lesson in futility!).

From what I could gather this little incident will cost me more than $6,000 to let the body shop repair it. I have to figure out how I can do it.

Trim $300 my cost
bumper cover
$1,500 my cost
Paint to match
$2,500
Labor
$2,000. Estimate = $6,300. I really don’t like driving a broken appearance car!🤮

If you have all of the broken pieces, then perhaps try JB Weld to glue the pieces back together. That trim piece is in a spot that not many eyes are going to ever notice, so JB'ing it may be a decent and very cheap option.

Just replaced that trim on my S65. Not sure if the bumper is the same, but on mine it was one long curvy piece. Pain in the **** to make sure all of the tabs clicked in properly. Didn't keep the part number.

JB Weld is on my list. The broken pieces were scattered everywhere, I only got a few bits so I won’t know what I’m dealing with untill i get the car up on the lift.
