I don't see why Benz gives a message like above. They should just say in the message that they didn't live up to the responsibility of providing service for a feature that a top $$$ car was sold with and expected to work but they did not want want to support it anymore to save some money. I just see one cost cutting thing after another with Mercedes these days and their Service at the dealers got more and more unreasonable. I decided to give Audi a try after driving Benz's since 2012, They lost me.
It's not just Mercedes. All the German cars are cutting costs dramatically. Honestly, Mercedes is the best of them all. BMW and Audi are worse. I own 2 new Audis currently, and believe me Mercedes is a step above.

I do know BMW is having major issues with their communications package. A very good friend of mine just took delivery on a brand new M5 only to have it go back to the dealer for weeks due to the mapping, the GPS, and other major tech systems in the vehicle, not operating properly. He’s not very happy right now!

The G90 M5 has been seriously de-contented and seen a reduction in materials quality vs. the F90. I owned an F90 M5 and loved it. The G90 feels like a plastic toy by comparison.
It indeed should continue to find destinations that are in the local database. Online searches won't work anymore, so it might not find a good match or a match at all if you enter a business name, because the local database is generally incomplete and outdated, but it certainly should find plain addresses if it knows about the road. Of course if it's a new road that is not in the map database then it won't find it either. OP's map data may be very outdated, so the destinations he is trying to enter may be missing from it, where as before it was able to find them via online search.
You're right again SS. I ut in some random searches and it couldn't find them. Very disappointing!! I live by the coast and cell phone coverage is fairly spotty so I've liked having SatNav as a backup. I have a couple trips to the Oregon and CA coast coming up where cell phone coverage is bad; I hope I don't get caught without navigation help.

Yes, offline navigation is the one thing that the built-in navigation is unmatched. However, you still can't find destinations if they are not in the local database and you happen to be in a dead spot. I've used HERE Maps on the phone in the past, which is effectively the same navigation system that the car runs and it has the ability to download the maps for an entire state/country, so you can navigate offline. Google Maps also has offline navigation, but you have to tediously download the specific areas that you gonna be driving in. It can't download the maps for an entire state at once. However, I just noticed they changed the offline functionality and it seems there's functionality now to automatically download maps based on where you drive. I just noticed this because I had to delete and reinstall Google Maps on my phone recently, and then redo the settings. I have to take a closer look.
But, I'm with you. I was in Kawai over the holidays and cell phone reception is kinda weak in some parts of the Island. I literally had to hold my phone out the door in some places to have enough reception to start the route guidance. Once driving it was fine, but I regularly didn't have enough of a signal to start the route from within the car. The natural faraday cage of the car blocked the little signal that was left.
