Looks Like the Audi A8 has been chopped

Interesting that Doug Demuro, on his podcast while discussing the A8, thinks the 7-series might also be on the chopping block
Lexus killed its LS 500, which I never liked and I owned LS460 and LS400 98 back on the day. LS line demise would have been unthinkable at some point. I got my father a nice LS430 a while ago and it’s still great. My LS460 was fantastic as well.
BMW 7 looks like a cyborg, a company joke who knows it’s on a last suicide mission run.
With people gravitating to these station wagons on steroids ( suvs), large sedans are mostly for TLC/ limo service, sadly.

But the Market has spoken.

But the Market has spoken.
As folks got larger, cars got larger in every direction. SUV won.
Is a GLS 550 or X7 or Range Rover a good place to be with kids on a weekend road trip? I bet it is. If I could afford both I probably would, but if I must have one, I’ll go with a sleek sedan every time. I don’t do practical and I can’t be in a suv that doesn’t off road. Looking like everyone else was never my thing either.
Win for us, depreciating loving S class lovers.

Hmmmm....well, a station wagon that does not handle for crap, is not too massively bloated (like most American SUV owners) and on and and on. 99% of "SUV" do not even have 4WD or any other thing that would be needed for the S or the U, all they have going for them is the V and the capacity to fit a family of morbily obeese Americans on their way to Old Country Buffet.

I've always held the A8 in high regard, but never thought they were as "special" as an S-Class.

Here's the quote you're referring to, as originally reported by Motor1:
“The decision on an A8 successor has been taken and we intend to present it towards the end of this decade,” Bestle told M1. “We are going to communicate further details in due course. The Audi Q9 is going to expand the Audi portfolio at the top as large full-size SUV.”
Not sure if you can get any more vague than that, and that's assuming the source info is true. No video is available to corroborate that statement, and there seems to be nothing but crickets from Audi's official communication channels at this point. Maybe they want to save the trademark or something. Weird to say the least.

Growing up in the 80's my dad had a Buick 225 station wagon. When I realized that I could turn the car on with no key (half the key broke in the ignition) we tested that car out.
That car hauled ***....
Now being a grown up, I have an S560 and I have a big *** GMC family hauler with the 6.2....that thing hauls ***...
So point being, if it hauls ***, goes off road and can get cleaned up and look nice, then I am with it......
