Sad? Not sure why it is that important to distinguish a car lineup by the number of headlight lightstrips. Would any buyer of an S Class care how many light strips are in the front headlights? It would never cross my mind. No one would be that vain.

The extended SNOUT! It looks tacked on and cheap, IMO. WHY in the world would they do that? Sure like the current look better.

No more MB:(
I would have liked a larger headlight cluster. The grill looks forced, not well integrated into the overall look. Protrudes too much, odd shape. I don't find the front offensive but it doesn't warm me up either. Kind of meh, underwhelming for an S.

But it does have 3 rectangular light blobs below the strip...so the overall DRL look is still differentiated from other MB sedans, and from the W222.

Drove the new Audi S8. Hated the interior.

I’ll be sad to see MB do the same.

For me it's not sad, just a nice distinguishing feature. My E for example has two led strips. Separated in a way mimicking the 210/211 quad headlight series. The triple led strips on the face lift 222 look fantastic. I know it when I see it. Just a nice touch. The new lights don't look as distinguished to me. I'll have to see them in person.

I like the snout. Looking forward to seeing it in person. I am sure it will have a very good presence.

How would you rate the current to the previous?

I like my 2018, but after seeing both for years now, I actually believe that the original, pre-face lift W222 looks better.

I have to agree, I believe that the s class that debuted in 2014 is the best looking.

I am also not a fan of the W223's grill. It is very big.

I also thought the W222 grill was too big, but have gotten used to it. I know I am in a minority here, but I still like the W221 design better. It was unique, understated and very elegant, IMO.

I agree. The pre-facelift with the AMG package is the best option.

221 was definitely more distinctive. Took the wife's car out today, 8 years old, still fun to drive.

Well, I’m not a fan of the AMG Line option. I prefer the standard look.

I'm sure the car will look classy and sophisticated, my beef is with the huge TV screen a la Tesla, hate haptic controls, touch screens with a passion.
They make sense on an ipad or iphone but not in a car with sun glare, smudges and too much required attention needed to scroll through the menus instead of keeping your eyes on the road.

I also think it looks very nice from the front in this pic......look forward to seeing more. The gills on the steering wheel also are interesting

I think it looks better than the junkyard pics, but it looks like they started with the grill and made the car around it.

It's not a radical departure (other than the interior) nor was it intended to be.

What does everyone else think?
I think the Maybach is appropriately different from a Mercedes but nit better looking IMO. I don't mind this grill at all. I also wouldn't mind the BMW 7 series grill as much if it wouldn't have those louvers. When closed it just looks like a solid block of metal. This is at least a normal grill and frankly not as radically different as the last one...

I think the 7 series grill looks fine with the M sport package because there are at least other air vents. Without the M sport package, there are no other vents, making the grill look outstandingly large.

BMW front end is fine by me, at least the hood runs all the way to the grill and headlights. Much better looking. This is something MB stopped doing years ago, probably because of all the tech in the grill but frankly it's unattractive and awkward looking.

Makes for a nicer integration. Sure the kidneys are a bit oversized but I like it.

Agree completely. Have to say though - I think it looks awesome with the M-Sport package.
