Sad? Not sure why it is that important to distinguish a car lineup by the number of headlight lightstrips. Would any buyer of an S Class care how many light strips are in the front headlights? It would never cross my mind. No one would be that vain.

The extended SNOUT! It looks tacked on and cheap, IMO. WHY in the world would they do that? Sure like the current look better.

I would have liked a larger headlight cluster. The grill looks forced, not well integrated into the overall look. Protrudes too much, odd shape. I don't find the front offensive but it doesn't warm me up either. Kind of meh, underwhelming for an S.

Drove the new Audi S8. Hated the interior.
I’ll be sad to see MB do the same.

For me it's not sad, just a nice distinguishing feature. My E for example has two led strips. Separated in a way mimicking the 210/211 quad headlight series. The triple led strips on the face lift 222 look fantastic. I know it when I see it. Just a nice touch. The new lights don't look as distinguished to me. I'll have to see them in person.

I like it.
I'm sure the car will look classy and sophisticated, my beef is with the huge TV screen a la Tesla, hate haptic controls, touch screens with a passion.
They make sense on an ipad or iphone but not in a car with sun glare, smudges and too much required attention needed to scroll through the menus instead of keeping your eyes on the road.

Looks like the spy photos that were unofficial. You can make anything look good in the proper lighting. This isn't ugly per se - but it doesn't look expensive and at this angle - not much of an imposing presence. The W222 Maybach Grille looks more impressive than this.

I think the Maybach is appropriately different from a Mercedes but nit better looking IMO. I don't mind this grill at all. I also wouldn't mind the BMW 7 series grill as much if it wouldn't have those louvers. When closed it just looks like a solid block of metal. This is at least a normal grill and frankly not as radically different as the last one...

BMW front end is fine by me, at least the hood runs all the way to the grill and headlights. Much better looking. This is something MB stopped doing years ago, probably because of all the tech in the grill but frankly it's unattractive and awkward looking.
Makes for a nicer integration. Sure the kidneys are a bit oversized but I like it.
