No more MB:(
Sometimes we trust the forum members more than MB itself as we have access to first hand and real world experiences. Sometimes things don't work due to glitches or availability regardless of what the manufacturer claims. This not that uncommon.

Not that BMW had wireless Android either, which in the topic of this thread
But I get it, the quality of information that came from Mercedes regarding wireless CarPlay on the GLE's/GLS's was poor and/or misleading at best. The reason was that it actually was supposed to have it and then was killed off, likely due to supplier or technical reasons.
But wireless CarPlay is pretty old tech, yet manufacturers are lagging behind especially on the 2nd CarPlay display (instrument cluster/HUD). BMW has finally made Android and HUD available in their July software updates.
I for one hate plugging in just to get CarPlay and worse, MBUX only dedicates 2/3 on the screen real estate to the CarPlay screen. A poor design implementation. The new S-Class screen layout should resolve that though...

I think it is relevant to discuss wireless CarPlay/Android auto due to the fact that information by Mercedes across the model line-up is virtually non-existent and dealers mostly provide incorrect information. Also people planning to order 2022 models other than the S-Class would likely want to know. Obviously discussing this that makes more sense in their respective forums.
Mercedes has done a poor job implementing CarPlay IMO; it took a full 4 years after promising CarPlay it and is now years behind on wireless compared even to budget brands.
Not wanting to highlight BMW again; those cars have plenty other weaknesses but I do like the CarPlay implementation. Not perfect but when using Apple Nav, it shows in the HUD, in the instrument cluster and on the iDrive screen. Full multi screen CarPlay Not having to plug in during winter here is a big one for me...
