Any discounts?

Local dealer is telling me $10k over sticker. Just doesn't seem right on what will be a mass-produced sedan, I was thinking negotiating around $5k off or something. What are other's experience so far?

First time I have heard of a premium over MSRP, hopefully not a trend!

While I am not currently looking to move from my 2018 S560 for various reasons, a dealer asking $10K over sticker would be all I need to further cement my decision. It would also give me reason to consider another dealer. I can understand full MSRP on a new model that will be in shorter supply. But asking $10k more than MSRP by a reputable dealer starts to look like gouging/scalping. That's just me and I understand the motivation. But, if a dealer wanted my long term business, they would reconsider such short term tactics.

10k over?? LOL. I’d never pay over sticker for a mass produced sedan lol.

I've been offered a S400 for 12% off in the UK, September delivery. Waiting for him to see if the options I want are available yet.

In a normal world, anything over sticker is laughable for an S-Class. Sticker price if you are desperate. We normally get 7% off early in the cycle for a custom-build; usually 10%. More discounts for existing inventory later into the build-cycle.

In a COVID world with supply restraints it maybe different. Dealers where we are can only get 50% or so of their normal inventory. Meanwhile demand is high and that shows in high used car prices/trade-ins. I just found out that we could unload our SUV (2020 GLE 350) for a profit. Who would have thought
High trade-ins will subside with more new inventory; perhaps the combo of both can yield a good deal...

Covid has surely had far reaching effects. On the forums I am seeing people paying over $2k for an Escalade lease, $8-900 for regular E classes etc. Our basement freezer is on the fritz and it seems they are sold out nationally. I guess everyone is stocking up on frozen goods and need freezers. And now with the bitcoin craze I can't get a gaming video card without being price gouged to hell. Cards that were priced at $150 are selling for $600. Nuts....

If you even find 3060, please let me know. I’ve been looking since Christmas.

I wanted a 1660 super but that's unobtantium right now. They are for my 2 oldest who wanted to build their first gaming PCs so I said that would be their Christmas gift. I feel terrible that they are still staring at boxes. I ordered 2 1650s through Office Depot 2 months ago and now I wait.

Dealers asking over sticker for anything newly redesigned doesn't surprise me. I'm not even gonna pay attention to the w223 for at least a year when the hype dies down.

Like Coleblooded said, just wait a few months or at the end of this year when the 2022's start getting talked about.

I got about 2% off in the UK.... was a hard fight to get that and I nearly walked away. Seems that no dealer anywhere is prepping offers and nothing from merc either...

The 1660 may be part of the problem.....

"Normal" dealer pricing may be further off than we think as vehicle availability may be more limited than the usual new model introduction period. Multiple pressures will keep the prices on the higher side as the computer chip shortage shows no sign of abating. Computer games, PC purchases, and big-screen TVs have devoured chip production. New car dealers, especially the large dealer groups, are enjoying the highest gross profit per vehicle that they have ever seen, so they see no need to rush back to giving away inventory from their overstuffed lots. The discounts will come but they may come later than usual. Meanwhile, I am still waiting for the new laptop I ordered in January!
