Because in the end The S will sell regardless, everyone and their dog wants, all over the globe.
It's the best.
Period.
I actually agree, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

First post updated with new PDFs.

The important part is that Active Ambient Lighting has been removed as a standard feature due to component shortages. (Only on S-Class, not Maybach)

Changes of note for S-Class:
  • 06/17/2021: MBUSA is experiencing challenges with the availability of semiconductor components due to the worldwide shortage. This has caused the addition and/or removal of certain options on vehicles. A summary of the changes is below: Active Ambient Lighting (878) has been removed from standard. Option is restricted from ordering.
  • Several new upholstery and trim restrictions (mainly in conjunction with MANUFAKTUR Kalahari Gold paint).
Changes of note for Maybach:
  • 05/18/2021: Addition of 519- Crystal White and Silver Grey Pearl Upholstery
  • New MANUFAKTUR Leather Package (U61):

This is from the 2022 order guide. Maybe the light shortage has returned.

So, perhaps it is time for MBUSA to dump the idiotic "Executive Line" model that they MADE UP THEMSELVES and allow customers to add stand alone options, such as the 10 degree rear axle steering to their "Luxury Line" models.

I was just looking at this a few moments ago, I was having a hard time justifying the executive line.

I agree man, I hate the way they've done the packages now. They have also done It with the new C-Class, but it makes sense there. I would think they would allow S-Class customers to customize a bit more.

Wow! You 223 boys have one hell of a diversified thread going. Simple question,,,for the 223 dash, did the proposed arcade glass control panel make the final cut?

Thanks.

Any word on the price of the options, like currently the Rear Wheel Steering assist is $1,300 and the 3D Technology package is $3,000. Anything on if the options are staying the same price or not? Lots of dealers have their cars listed on their websites with a build sheet and pricing, but none of the 2022's listed have any pricing (even though some forum members 2022's have already shipped to the United States).

Those 2 options are still there for 2022, and are the same price.

Oh great! So a bit of a base price increase, but looks like that's it. My order went into production July 16, but my dealer still hasn't confirmed completion, if anything was cut, or pricing.

Side note, some dealers have their inventory listed on their webpages with a "sold" banner, but some just list them and you can't tell if they are available or not without calling. We have all of these tools but some dealers manipulate things to get you to call anyway.

Thanks for replying!

Sounds like most should have waited for the 2022 MY to order/buy. If the chip problems don't persist the 2022 car has a lot more to offer it seems.

I believe things are a little better for the S in 2022, but some things like the Active Ambient Lighting (code 878) won't be ironed out until 2023.

I got confirmation our 2022 S80 AMG spec is being built this week and we were able to get the 3D HUD, rear steering etc. The dealer says nothing is being removed from the build so I am assuming it will have the massaging front seats too.

Seeing as the gt 63 is being discontinued, I'd bet the AMG s-class will be a s73e.
