Probably ok, but wait to see it. Anything is possible at this point.

Dealers dilemma?

The build sheets were modified at the VPC.
MM:
As I understand it, neither the dealership or the customers were made aware of the various deletions until vehicles were released from VPA. MB certainly and with knowledge chose to not inform those who ordered vehicles of these “adjustments” to their order. Frankly this is unconscionable, surprising and very disappointing.
What are dealers doing to “soothe the savage beast”?

Yesterday MERCEDESMAX instructed me to have my dealer run a new MSRP as they were all updated (showing changes), so that's what I did today.

You should be good to go. It looks like most of the cars were built as ordered.

I'm just wondering (bear with me), cars are shipped missing chips, when they get to the VPC (Chips being shipped directly to the VPC's) the crew there installs the necessary chips, if short they just shelf one of the standard features change the MSRP so the car can be shipped and sold? That makes sense just not sure if my sense meets theirs?
The 20" AMG wheels are $750, or $950 with black inlays. Are they reducing the price or are they changing the wheels to the ones without the black inlays?

So much better looking with the “black inlays,” IMHO. (Glad I switched to them at last minute (option code RVV)). Stayed with 20” to get the 10 deg rear axle steering.

With the AMG Trim Line you can only get 4.5 degree rear axle steering (USA), I don't like going up two sizes as 21" from 19" ride quality usually suffers, that's why I went with the 20's, kind of in between?

Copied off Mercedes configure website:

Confirm your selection :

You have selected:
  • 20-inch AMG multispoke w/black accents

    $750
To add that feature, we must also add:
  • Night Package

    $400
    • Gloss black exterior accents
    • 20-inch AMG multispoke wheels w/black accents

Fresh off the showroom floor. Not the one I put a deposit on. This one has upgraded wheels. Sadly no massage.

Thanks Max!
At the end of 2020 I started talking to my salesperson about the new S580. He told me the 3D Technology Package was unavailable at that time. As we got into the new year it became available, I ordered my car Jan. 22, 2021. I'm wondering if S Class cars ordered prior to 2021 are more susceptible to the Active Seat deletion then cars ordered after Jan. 1, 2021? From what I see it doesn't look like trim or options trigger the deletion?
I was disappointed that my E53 Cabriolet didn't have Active Contour Seats, hopefully won't be disappointed again?

Doesn't look like that was the reason. There are cars that were ordered after Jan 1 that are missing equipment. Seems to be random.

I guess, One can only assume the chip problem is driving this random behavior? Thanks Again, hopefully you are right and my buggy will be loaded with the equipment I want?

1st time posting. Do you know if the $1700 front seat credit means that only the massage function is missing, and that all the other functions will be available? A car is available that fits my criteria, but has the $1700 credit. I had a 2017 E class with the massage function, but rarely used it

I believe it's the active bolsters as well. The active bolsters are when you take a corner and the bolsters push you in the opposite direction. I have to double check cuz I've only been in mine for 1 drive and haven't had a chance to go through all the settings.

My 2020 E53 Cabriolet had Multi-Contour Front Seats with Massage, because it being a cabriolet it didn't have or offer the side bolsters hugging feature, that's where the "Active" come in! So, if they deleted the Active Multi-Contour seats, no massage or side bolster hugging. I believe I'm correct.

There is a front page article in today’s Wall Street Journal titled “Intel Sees Chip Shortage Lasting”. The CEO of Intel sees the global shortage of semiconductor chips potentially stretching into 2023. The article also sights Volkswagen AG warning that the global shortage could worsen over the next 6 months. The new S Class uses a lot of semiconductors, but the new EQS which is scheduled to be introduced later this year uses even more. Mercedes will have to decide which car line will have priority for their limited supply of chips and what standard and optional equipment will be deleted due to the shortage. This does not bode well for the 2022 S Class.

Dealers have already been told that Hyperscreen and Self-Closing Doors on the EQS will be very limited. I wouldn't be surprised to see the list grow for items such as active ambient lights and multi-contours just like the W223 has suffered from.
