When, when, when??
Streamliner, I would really value your personal opinion on this: I am ordering a 2022 Nautical Blue S580. Love the blue color. Be brutally honest with me: Nautical Blue with Carmine Red Exclusive Nappa. Yes or no! Would you ever do that color combination on the S Class?

We have a member, Chucky3000 and he did a similar color combination on a Porsche 911. It was dark blue with red interior and it looked SPECTACULAR!
I currently have a silver 2022 S580 on order with the red interior. Most likely, I will not take delivery, as I refuse to pay over MSRP, but hoping things change by the time it arrives. I’ve always loved red interiors, when the red is a “good” red and from the photos we have all seen, the W223 Carmine Red looks to be stunning. I say GO FOR IT!

Regarding quality of the exclusive nappa leather, it is soft, smooth, and supple with a nice patina. Of course not as buttery soft as RR or Bentley leather but close.

My dealer is discounting my order 8%. I wouldn’t pay over MSRP either, and with YOUR purchase history, neither should you.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Does anyone know if this is a choice by the customer or due to the global parts shortage?
My sales rep talked me out of ordering the fancier 4D stereo as well as option DF0 3D Technology Package: MBUX Augmented Reality Head-Up Display, 3D Instrument Cluster (+3,000)
Is this because of parts shortage as well? Or there are issues with the HUD?
Has anyone taken delivery of one without the Multi-Contour Front Seats and/or without the Active Ambient Lighting?
How is the HUD system? I have only experienced the ones in a BMW 750i xDrive and a Lexus LS500. The Bimmer's speedometer was excellent, while the Lexus' was hard to see.
Thanks for your time.

Does your S580 look more like silver under direct sunlight and golden, or dark grey at night?
2021 S580 Mojave Silver
I test drove a Designo Silver with AMG trims. It had Macchiato Magma Grey Nappa Leather and the seats felt better than even the 2022 BMW 750i xDrive I tested a day prior.
My test S580 had 20" wheels and they were not any noisier on harsh New York City city roads compared with the 19" Bimmer wheels. Although on a massive NYC pothole, the S580 made an unexpected amplified jolting thunk sound. Both flagships settled into tomb-like silence at stops, just delightful.
S580 tester in Designo Silver - AMG Trims
The S580 tester did not have the HUD, the HUD on the Bimmer shows only the speed limit and the speedometer. The fonts were wonderfully clear in noon daylight. Far easier to see both the road and the numbers.
How is the S580 HUD in your experience? Under direct sunlight and since I drive a lot at night, under street lights or pitch black? Is there a recess on the dash for the Benz HUD unit? Does it create a shadow / reflection on the windshield during dawn or dusk?
Thanks for your time.

There you go, good researching !

IMO the Mojave Silver looks stunning especially with the Sienna Brown exclusive Napa leather. I originally really wanted the Hightech/Cirrus Silver but since it was the color of the lunch vehicle presentation and many advertisements, I didn’t want a color with many on the road or the very popular black and white which everyone and his mother has

I don’t want a car with same color in same parking lot/next to me driving. I prefer to be a bit different (even though I’d never own a black or white car).
But now that I have it in Mojave Silver (S500) I truly prefer it over the hightech/cirrus. I can’t stop looking at it every time I’m by it. It exudes different shades of beige/champagne/silver/grey in different lighting but NEVER blackish dark like the green or blue or burgundy paints which look gorgeous BUT ONLY in DIRECT sunlight, otherwise they are way to dark for my taste.
Regarding HUD, remember there are two types: the normal and the augmented reality AR HUD. If your getting HUD I’d definitely recommend the AR HUD. Projects images about 77 inches and great graphics especially with navigation and driving assistance and is very clear day and night (YouTube some videos for reference).
Yes, there is a recess on the dash like any other car with HUD. The AR HUD recess is larger (with a fairly sharp eye you can tell whether it’s the normal or AR HUD). I didn’t really ever notice a reflection of the HUD recess on the windscreen. Wish you didn’t tell me, now I’m going to start looking for one if there is

Hope this helps.

I will be adding the AR HUD option. It's the only HUD option for 2022, the tentative price is 3K. The Sienna Brown interior option is 3.1K.
I just read that the AR HUD is powered by some Hi-end NVIDIA graphics chip, the Youtube videos were unanimous with praise on its features and usefulness. Then again, one can switch it.
Does the AR HUD work with mapping info from Google Maps or Apple Maps?

Good to see you checked out some online videos of the AR HUD capabilities to get a flavor. Didn’t know it was powered by NVIDIA graphics chips! Only way to go IMO!
I believe you can only use the built in MB Navigation maps for the HUD. However, you can use Google/Apple maps via Apple CarPlay. I know, not the same, but looks pretty good on the large central screen.
