For the US Press at least (despite the car being available overseas already) as MB hosted an event for reviewers, a couple of car review youtube channels have said they have videos that will be posted tomorrow at 9AM EST.

Its a common term used in Journalism: "In journalism and public relations, a news embargo or press embargo is a request or requirement by a source that the information or news provided by that source not be published until a certain date or certain conditions have been met."

The point is, beyond this off-topic conversation, expect hopefully some news or information or videos at the least of some sort tomorrow at 9AM EST.

I was just reading up on journalist embargos, it's pretty normal. What it does is level the playing field (or in this case writing automotive articles field) so everyone more or less gets a piece of the action all at once. If Mercedes is indeed offering videos or an explanation of what's coming up as far as the S Class launch and other tasty tidbits then everyone will know at once not just a select few and can write about it. I guess will just have to wait another 19 hours and see what comes down the pike?
My question is this: at 9:00am EST where will we be able to see this press embargo airing?

Its mainly going to be reviews from youtubers and magazines, not an actual video or article from Mercedes themselves, they simply hosted an event for journalists to have the cars for the day and learn about them, however that being said they may have given the journalists more info that what we know at this point but we'll have to see tomorrow. At the very least we'll be getting more S-Class content while we wait for them to arrive at dealers.

I asked my salesperson Friday if Mercedes had any news on a release date, he told me the only thing he heard was the first week of July release?

There are already a ton of youtuber reviews and news articles. What’s different about this “release?”
What “more S-Class content” is to be revealed? It’s not like MB has kept some features “undercover.” It’s already on the road in other parts of the world.

I go by my local dealership once every 2 weeks or so and they have NOTHING new on the lot. This is a LARGE dealership and it seems all they have is used cars. Nothing interesting on the lot. I went to other dealerships 100+ miles or so as I travel a good bit for my job and the same thing for the other dealerships... nothing being presented on the floor or at the door. Definitely a drought going on.

The “release” of the W223 in the US has been ridiculous and very unprofessional. Having the 2021 car on the MBUSA website, without pricing, when customers are told the 2021’s are no longer available to order and that they must order a 2022 is just NUTS! To me, this is further indication that MB is trying to be everything to everyone and the end result is a dilution of the brand and customer dissatisfaction. They are running around like chickens with their heads cut off and can’t even come up with a fix for my rough shifting transmission in my 2020 S560, so they want to buy it back. Sheesh! Did they suddenly forget how to make transmissions??? Honestly, I believe they need to take a “time out.” They need to take a step backwards, survey the market landscape and regroup. Blaming everything on the virus and chip shortages only flies for so long.

This is "release" is concerning the U.S. market. That is where the reviews will be coming from. US spec cars and US reviewers.

It's sad that Mercedes still insists in selling the S-class without four-zone climate control. It's standard in the BMW 7-series.

You really have to order your S-class with the four-zone climate control, because it looks like crap without it.

Looks like much better with it.

Absolutely, "release" is the word that the original poster should have used.

We have two large dealerships in Nashville, Nashville Mercedes (50 new cars & vans in inventory) and Music City Mercedes (56 new cars and vans in inventory), way short of their normal inventory!

I agree, this cracks me up. Here we are 10 days from July and there is a "release event" on a 2021 model that has yet to make it to market, no pricing on the website, no dealer inventory, and unfulfilled orders. Plus, it's not like there isn't endless content on YouTube. Maybe this is a stall tactic by MB to keep the car fresh since the entire launch has been a failure, at least in the US.

Well actually it should have just been said that the reviews embargo on U.S. market reviews ends today.

I agree that the US launch has been a total failure. Our joint venture office in Beijing received their 2021 S450L back in February and the new S Class is in dealer showrooms throughout Asia and India. Using a bit of hyperbole, I earlier stated MB “threw their US customers under the bus”. Still no solid delivery information on my car that was built in February arrived in Brunswick last March. My dealer was told by MBUSA that they anticipate starting deliveries in July, but that is still rather vague. It is beyond me why Mercedes wants to keep US customers in the dark over the release date, they surely know by now when cars will be going to dealers but the secrecy continues. To ad insult to injury, maybe MBUSA is planning to launch the 2021 model at the same time as the 2022 model…nothing would surprise me.

The mean *******s at Mercedes couldn't even be bothered to make 3 zone standard in the S-class.

You have to choose the "Rear Seat Package" just to get 4 zone AC in an S-class and to add insult to injury: the rear seat package is not available for the AMG Line model.

ITs ridiculous that we are spending 100k plus for this car and there is no standard 4 zone climate control system. Mercedes you are screwing us.
