Factory 56 shutdown for a week due to chip shortage
So the new factory 56 appears to have stopped production today on the S-Class and EQS until at least the 16th. Just FYI...

Mercedes was hit hard by the semiconductor shortage in the second quarter and will be addressing the issue when they release their quarterly results on July 21st. Last quarter, they expected the supply of chips to improve in the second half of the year. Renesas Electronics, a major supplier of semiconductors to Mercedes, is back up to full production after a serious fire last February. Taiwan Semiconductor is also running at full production, but the demand for chips still exceeds supply and there is a long backlog of infilled orders. Financial analysts do not expect the supply of chips to catch up with demand until at least the end of the year. Semiconductor manufacturers are currently giving priority to their high margin customers who make electronic games and other high tech gadgets. The automotive manufacturers worldwide pounded down chip prices in recent years and now are second in line as more chips become available. The delay in the launch of the S Class in the US is totally the result of the chip shortage. Mercedes originally intended to launch the car in the US in March, but the Renesas fire and the weather related shutdown of Texas semiconductor manufacturers pushed the launch back. Chip suppliers have continued to miss delivery commitments to Mercedes in recent months forcing repeated delays in the US launch. That is why no advanced announcements have been made on a launch date. This information comes from an stock analyst who attends the Mercedes annual and quarterly meetings as his company is the largest US investor in Daimler AG stock.

I was at the dealer Saturday and my sales person wasn't there, but another looked up the status of my order. My 2022 S500 was scheduled to be built 3rd decade July, but he said the computer said it was built yesterday (Friday July 16). Still no pricing info. I will try to get with my sales person tomorrow as I see 2021's are now hitting the dealers.

Daimler released its 2nd quarter results yesterday in a news conference for investors. They stated that the current worldwide shortage of semiconductor chips will affect unit sales in the 3rd quarter. “Mercedes-Benz cars unit sales could be in the magnitude of the 2nd quarter or below. Full year unit sales are expected to be at prior year level (previously: significantly above).” This does not bode well for 2022 S Class cars produced through the end of the year, as they too will experience the same chip shortages that plagued the 2021 models. Last quarter, Daimler stated that they expected the semiconductor chip shortage to be over by the end of the year, they now acknowledge that the shortage is continuing at current levels and may be worse than in the 2nd quarter.

There was a bulletin in Netstar that gave out base MSRP for most 2022 models as well as the anticipated launch time.

When was the bulletin, before or after the July 19 '21 launch announcement? So what is the anticipated launch date? My dealer thinks it will be after all of the '21s are sold, but if you have access to an internal bulletin, can you share the gist if it? Also, besides the base price increase, will the options be priced higher too?
