Same here, got some decent experience with networks. MBUX somehow doesn't route wifi traffic to the internet. I need to go in the car with my laptop and see if I can dig up more things. I just thought someone knew of a setting somewhere in MBUX that I may have glossed over.

Man, I’ve been on that same list since August. No one can provide an accurate timeline for the OTA update. First they said I was missing a module, then they said I wasn’t missing anything. Then they went the route of the sim card, then it wasn’t the sim card. I just recently went back into the dealership and after a week troubleshooting that found that even after reinstalling software, resetting the car, and performing a few updates that the problem lies within the software somehow. Apparently every time it’s reset, it still defaults to AT&T which renders everything useless. I’m set to return on the 14th at which time they’ll be opening an Engineering ticket with Mercedes to hopefully get it resolved.

Funny thing is imagine how many more S580’s are driving around without working wifi but no one’s complaining since they don’t even use the Wi-Fi.

Appreciate your efforts on this matter. I have same issue. Spoke with T Mobile technical support in Germany and they were dumbfounded as well. They referred me to next level tech support ( had to email). “ Surprisingly “ no one got back to me.

Just got the S580 back from Mercedes service (Wi-Fi & cluster display). Apparently most cars are being migrated to TMobile but some will stay with AT&T. Mine should kick on in a few days and be available for direct purchase in late March. I’ve attached the printout. They finally created a PTSS ticket which is an engineering ticket/case. Seems to be the only way to get real traction….this is such a clumsy interaction.

all you need is the mbux specific update and a Tmobile account. End of story.

The day I brought the car home I connected to my home wifi mainly to check for system updates… cut to- a couple of days ago while exploring the system I opted for a data plan which took me to t-mobile and was able to successfully subscribe to an unlimited data plan. Pretty painless!

my issue is that I don’t entirely see the benefit (any benefit) of having a data plan in the Sclass. I don’t have the rear seat system and T-Mobile is my iPhone service provider. In my F250 I have AT&T which gives me redundancy in service coverage and allows laptop/ipad connectivity without fumbling with my cell phone hotspot.

Recap.......so, on my previous post I stated what Mercedes was doing behind the scenes.(My car in one of those staying on AT&T, the wifi will be active in a few days until mid march when I can purchase a plan) My screen was previously showing that same AT&T display stating that it wasn't compatible. Over the last two days that has changed. Below is the current status. the WIFI IS NOW ACTIVE (on AT&T) as Mercedes said it would be. I still get the "no data package" error just Like Mercedes said would happen until mid-end of march. I've checked multiple sites, AT&T streaming is good, but no hotspot. I believe the hotspot wont be active until a plan is purchased...






Just in case anyone's wondering I'm not tethering or using any other device as a hotspot for my car

Waited one year for vehicle. Manhattan Mercedes Benz dealer only factory owned dealership in the USA has no clue. Besides that they charged an extra 50k for car above MSRP.

WIFI with no way of connecting to your device , what’s the point.

I am truly dumbfounded!!! I have now paid 3 months of t-mobile service which I subscribed through my cars system for a Mercedes S-Class that does nothing with this data plan... I can't use it as a hotspot, I can't connect to Spotify, I can't run apps because it too says that I am not connected to the internet. Ohhh, also really funny I can't cancel the plan???

Adding on to the thread. As a dealership employee. I have had numerous clients reach out to me about the Wi-Fi services. And us as the dealership have no source of acquiring the information to assist. It is truly unbelievable that we are unable to receive an answer on why this is happening. Especially with the S class/Maybach's where this feature is extremely utilized. I have 5 clients I am working with currently.

I am in contact with the Mercedes-Me Operations team, and with the T-mobile providers themselves. They only answer I have received has been there may be a missing module on certain models. But no specific information on what may be missing.

Wi Fi Data Plan

I spoke with Mercedes Me Connect in an attempt to obtain a data plan. I was told the ATT walled garden needed to be removed via an OTA update and given a case number. That's all they could do for me. Basically "shut up and go away". Very disappointing and surprised they haven't figured this out.

I would assume if your seeing the 4G icon in the upper right corner the LTE module is installed. My dealer is setting up my Mercedes Me today and this is an option that I will absolutely use. Hoping it goes smooth cause I do work from the car quite often.. Very disappointing they've had so many issues with this

Yes, Mercedes agreed in mid May to allow AT&T to renew expired subscriptions for up to a year. I was able to renew mine for a year and it is working very well. Hopefully, Mercedes will have a permanent solution when my year is up!

So after my dealer activated the Mercedes Me today, I went into the vehicle and click find provider under the 4G icon. It took me to Tmobile website, entered in my details and purchased the 1 year for 240 with no issues. After that I tested streaming music and hotspot and no issues, all works as advertised. I think if your MBUX is directing you to Tmobile it should be AOK, maybe this ATT transition thing is making the issues.. Just figured I'd let you guys know encase anyone else is thinking about setting it up

what r the use cases for having a data plan for the car if u don't have rear screens behind the seats?

i see the photo on this thread showing web browser, but i don't see doing that myself often especially when i normally do it on my phone which also has 5g service.

i don't believe mbux has Netflix built in, a la Tesla. even with the rear screens, what exactly would the data service be used for that u wouldn't just do on your phone?
if it did, I'd consider the data plan much more.

Well I use it for the streaming music, and also hotspot. Lots of times i will be making some vehicle remotely from the rear seat on long trips

I have a problem too. I am from Europe, from Poland. I bought a Mercedes V class W447 from Belgium. This car was manufactured for the country of sale: Belgium. The internet provider in Belgium is Proximus. The internet provider in Poland is Vodafone Plus. Mercedes does not have the option to change the Internet provider in the Hermes module. Why?
