Front Comfort Headrests

When I got my new S580 it came without the Front Comfort Headrests (pillows). Standard equipment on the Luxury line lists this item, part #436. My dealer says he researched this and because my car
did not have the massage function (chip issue)they were omitted. Has anyone had this same issue, I.e. missing massage seats and NO pillow?
I am willing to buy them but MBZ parts doesn’t seem to sell them. Switching the pillows I have from the rear to the front doesn’t work because of the fastening method. Looked at aftermarket suppliers, but color match is a problem.
Comments or ideas? Thanks.

Salvage yard, once there are some of these have been wrecked, with your color scheme.

Have an automotive trim/upholstery shop see if they can modify the rear pillows to work on the front.

Mine has the AMG package, nothing was deleted. It has pillows front and back. Perhaps the pillows will be available through parts shortly. Makes no sense to delete the pillows!

If you don't have the massage seats you don't get the pillows.
Give it some time, I'm sure you will be able to get them through the parts dept.

Hi TwinCam, I have them too. Just a bit off topic but do your pillows NOT retain their position and slide down? I understand there is a bulletin out for it (to install missing felt I believe) but dealer dealer says not available (yet??)

Yes, the front pillows do slide down after driving for a while. I’ll get the missing felt when available. I do like the pillows, very comfortable!

And the rear ones don’t? Mine slide down front and back seats.
So you also heard about the felt retrofit?

I haven’t been in the back seats, but my friends who have been in the back seat have been favorably impressed with the pillows, they like them. I haven’t noticed if they slip down. Yes, I heard about a possible fix from my service adviser when I mentioned that the front pillows can move down a bit. He said they are working on a fix.

This is correct, when the massage seat function is omitted from the S-Class it will not come with front comfort headrest. The straps from the rear are not universal either. As of now I do not think it is something orderable from your parts department, I am sure MBUSA will figure something out to compensate it's customers.

Any one try the lower or raise rear headrest button that's in MBUX yet? It seems not to work...

Mine lowers/raises. I never used the function before. Didn’t work initially, .But when I raised them from each seat control they worked (note: when I just did one only it worked it and not the other). Seems it justneeded initializing.

So I sat in the rear seats and moved the rear seat head restraints up all the way... About 2 inches up is all they go. It's not much to notice. When I hit the MBUX button in the settings screen for rear seat head restraints, it only moves them down, but not up... So it works...

To be truthful, I almost never use my massage feature (on any of the cars I've had over the past 15 years). I also am reluctant to use voice commands and lane departure /steering assist. Distronic, automatic headlights, HOLD braking, parktronic and 360 degree cameras, and HUD are my favorite must-haves.
