S580 fully loaded vs Maybach
Curious to know the difference between a fully loaded s580 vs buying a maybach.
When I put all the nappa leather options, burmester 4d package etc etc what are the differences that remain from what a maybach provides? I know maybach has a longer wheelbase and comes in v12 but if i am not interested in those 2 any reason why not just buy a fully loaded s580?

Some little extras that the Maybach receives are of course styling differences such as the badges, fonts, wheels, as well as chrome strip on the hood. Inside the Maybach also receives a stitched leather headliner, exclusive trims, the four-seat setup along with extra appointments from pillows to champagne glasses, a rear center console etc.
Personally, I do not see a reason for getting the Maybach unless you are being driven fairly often. Seems pretty pointless to buy a car like that only to sit in the front. The S-Class is already big as it is.

All that, and exclusivity. You (and maybe some discerning others) know you have the "top dog" in the lineup. It's the same with AMG, you want to "show the world" you are just a little "better" than the rest. Most AMG owners would never think of taking their cars to the track, though that's what AMGs are designed for. I once knew an E55 AMG owner who had never floored his accelerator. What a waste of good money. And Maybach and AMG are "cash cows" for Mercedes. Profit margins are through the roof. Why not make as many as possible and design them as "over the top" as they can.

There’s little difference except badging and a few more inches. Even the long wheel base (standard in America) gives plenty of leg room so unless you have a chauffeur and you’re sitting in the back frequently (or believe in filial piety and dote on your parents/in-laws by chauffeuring them around in luxury), it’s just extra hassle in finding parking spots and fitting into your garage.

My neighbor has a guest that visits every now and then and they drive a previous gen Maybach. No one is ever in the back seat lol. Makes me wonder the percentage of owners that are chauffeured vs actually being behind the wheel.

No more MB:(
Unless you're going to be driven go S580. Here in DC I see several Maybach's each week mostly owned by foreign embassies to drive staff around. Rarely seen one being driven alone unless its the driver.

TBH showing off and YouTubing - so to speak; what you own is discernibly stupid and childish. Buy what you want and enjoy it for what you want it/ need it for…you need not merely parade yourself and your objects like a Trumpian muppet, that’s very class-less.

So, for purposes of comparison the S 580 would be compared to the S 580 Maybach.

I'd take the Maybach, former S-class owner, and huge fan of the large sedan, having been in numerous of the previous generations, the Maybach does feel more special. The two tone paint has also grown on me, some color ways are pretty cool.
