Missing features

Just got my 2022 S580
Then I realized I don’t have active ambient light. I have massage seat but I don’t have active side bolsters…or is it something I can turn on in some settings?

The window sticker should show credits for the missing lighting and multi-contoured seats.

MY22’s do not come with Active Ambient Lightning due to the chip shortage, it requires an extra 4 chips per vehicle over standard lighting.

Massage seats are considered the multi-contour seats. In the seats menu there should be an option titled “Dynamic Multicontour Seat” which has two levels for the bolsters.

I didn't fully read your message. They are one in the same so if you have massage seats then you will have the active bolsters. About half the W223 S-Classes that come through here did not have Multi-Contoured seats.

Active Ambient Lighting was made into a $750 option so no longer standard on the car

Ambient Ligting

I ordered the 580 October 2020, waited 6 months as the car sat at the port in Baltimore to take deliver Mid July. Fully loaded to the max, Emerald
Green brown interior executive line Burmester for $6900 and every option available. 21 champagne flute rims. The works. Why did Mercedes’ think that my car DID NOT deserve to get the fully loaded options yet standard models recieved the Ambient lighting for
a measly $750 and the Massage seats. I rathe the lights then the $750, I bought the car because every video Bragging about the interior experience, why did Mercedes opt themselves to remove these 2 key features!!

please Help im suffering. I don’t believe these
are chip shortages, from what I am
hearing the actual missing component was the LED STRIP THEMSELVES! I have little confidence in retro fitting the lighting and already gave up on even asking about massage seats. If someone has any info
on retrofit or this chip shortage claim
please respond with some suggestions. I am a 20
year Benz owner and I just lost a lot of confidence that im in the dark about this.

Where did you hear this? From what I've seen/heard it was removed due to the chip shortage, EQS' were also affected.

Why did you take delivery if you were not satisfied with your car getting these options removed.

Because I was told that the lights were tjere
and the chips would be installed later on. Just 2 weeks
ago another dealership said “oh you got a build without the Lights” I said yeah waiting for chips… he said it wasn’t a chip shortage but a led panel shortage don’t count on it. I can live without the massage seats but every one of my homes is fitted with Phillips hue, I’m big on lighting, big blow to the excitement of enjoying the new car….

The "LED Panel shortage" is the same thing as a "chip shortage". The issue is the chips used to manufacture the LED panels. These aren't chips you just "plug in" lol

I understand that it’s not a chip… but I’ve heard that tesla Is selling upgrades over the air right from the car too, so I don’t know what’s provisioned anymore. I do doubt these PCBA boards with the lighting strip were the components in shortages not just a plug and play chip but who knows anymore. Why would some cars get the lights and some not? How did Mercedes choose who to give the ambient lights too and who not to.

its just a question of when cars were manufactured and when chips/strips were available. I doubt they just plug and play.

I get it, I wouldn't buy one of these cars without the ambient lighting or the massage/multi-contour seats.

Active ambient lighting for $790 is not an orderable option. It's just showing up on cars randomly. There's no apparent rhyme or reason, it's just based on what's in the factory.

One can order a specific feature (eg active ambient light) but it is always subject to availability. This means, this is not a reliable way to have that feature.
I reckon, MB factory will install a specific feature (which is of limited chip supply) to certain models (based on their worldwide database of how well that models sold) as pre-built and ship them to dealers.
So, instead of ordering a feature (and be disappointed when the car arrived without that feature but with a credit), I suggest choosing among the incoming inventory of a dealer is a much better way to guarantee having that feature. Eg a dealer might tell you that they have 10 coming cars with 3 of them having the AAL feature. Choose among these 3 would certainly guarantee you to have AAL, avoiding surprise and disappointment, if AAL is a must-have feature for you.

does it actually show up on netstar? I was under the impression that it was “included when it could be” but not orderable just like on the EQS.
