2022 S580 screen protector to eliminate fingerprints
I found something that will eliminate the fingerprints on the Mercedes MBUX screen:
https://www.spigen.com/collections/m...40005978914863
Has anyone done this and what are your feedback? I got something similar like this from another brand for my Audi RS7 and its really effective at keeping the screen clear and clean from the fingerprints.

I don't get this. The original screen would not get fingerprints but the protector would. How is the protector secured? If removing the protector was easy for cleaning or replacement, I'd be interested. If it is "semi-permanently attached, Is there any risk of destroying the original screen, on some MB models they've been very sensitive to some chemicals.
Someone here complained about glare on the original screen. Odd if the protector can reduce glare without any drawbacks. Very good if it does.

Many OEM screens have a protective film from the factory, never seen Mercedes at least offering a replacement as a spare part. Perhaps more intended for older resistive touch screens. Capacitive with hard surface might survive without a film.
Why would Mercedes not put such a protective film at the factory if it was safe, easy to replace and had no drawbacks?

That is what I was afraid of. Perhaps no reason to be afraid of but but the smart phone screen protectors are like glued, don't know which stuff but can we be sure it peels off safely?

Some smartphone screen protectors use UV activated LOCA such as some Whitestone Dome versions for curved screens. However the Spigen car touchscreen protector mentioned does not appear to use this and should lift off easily.

In that case, they are probably glass screen protectors.

Hi All,
Has anyone installed the spigen product on the 223? I am considering though also questioning a bit if there will be an improvement. The fingerprints don't bother me too much, I just wipe the screen with microfiber every few days but it would be nice to cut down on that.
Thanks!

Reporting back I've had the Spigen one on mine for about 2 weeks now and it does reduce the finger prints and is faster to wipe clean. Find myself wiping it clean much less often. No adverse effects noticed so far. Amazon also had a much better price the Spigen directly.

My privacy screen protector on my Apple laptop is magnetically secured and it too has eliminated 90% of the smudges I used to get. Cleans easier. I don't know if the MB screens would have any metal to attract the screen protector.

Am I missing something or why does MB insist on not applying an oleophobic coating?

Such a coating is difficult to apply flawlessly. And, the life span is probably a couple years. Imagine an MB owner seeing the coating worn off (unevenly) after a couple years, how frustrating (and probably angry) he will be. There will be tons of complains which might not be 'fixable' at the dealer level. Applying a tempered glass protector should be a much simple and easy solution, if the owner so desired.
