W223 Mystery Buttons in Glove Box

Saw this mystery buttons/ box in the glove compartment. Could it be for the Fragrance system to set intensity? I thought the fragrance intensity was set in the display. Nothing in the manual about it nor was it explained on delivery.

If you set up a password or fingerprint for the account connected to your "Mercedes Me Account" the transponder can be activated through Payvium via the Apps selection in the main menu.

I’m so glad they put this gizmo in the car. Too bad they can’t deliver Active Ambient Lighting, a feature that most EVERYONE would like & benefit from.

eBay chinese sellers are offering the LED light strips for the doors & dash. Not sure of the amount of active integration or animation ability. Try them out and let us know if they are worth $1200 USD?

Looks like MBUSA is finally advertising about it in a video.
(If they are talking about the same thing)

Thanks for the video. They mention that the system automatically senses how many seat belts are engaged and bills accordingly so why still the buttons in the glove box?

Good question, maybe used if the system isn't working properly, like not detecting one of the passengers.
There is still a possibility that these are two different systems... the one in the video might be different to the one your thread talked about.

Good guesses.
Another reason is that there might be situations where you do not want this automatic detection of passengers. At 0:57 and 1:23 of the video show that you can disable the auto detection and do it manually.
Situations like:- (a) you do not have passengers but you have some heavy cargo on the seats with seat belts on ; (b) a seat belt is malfunctioning ; (c) a passenger cannot use the seat belt for some rare medical/health condition
