The New 7-Series is Here to Battle the S-Class - If You Can Get Past the Front End!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Mojave Silver is a timeless Benz colour. Haven’t seen it on the S580 yet…glad to hear it looks good.

Unlike the 80% of all S classes that are either black or white (sorry, no offense).

For a 223 my choice would be between Mojave silver and the dark graphite.

I can't recall (maybe before my time) that a BMW would ever be considered a poor mans Mercedes. BMW drivers wanted to be anything but a Mercedes driver; it was a step down in driving pleasure for them.
I used to curse BMW after our last 7 series experience (F02 750il). The M8 redeemed it all. While there are pros/cons with every brand, they did a lot of things right with that one and they are now on par with MB but are taking very different approaches to design/handling and luxury. I do look at them as equal level cars when it comes to the S-Class/7 series...

"I grew up when the BMW was clearly seen as the poor man's Mercedes. But brands change over time and I would put them on par in the US market these days."
This is during a period when Mercedes imported the 600. I think the principle difference is that at that time BMW's were not as substantial of a car. Given the choice I would have 10 times rather been in a Mercedes in an accident. As in the case of my father being broadsided at a traffic light and walking away with a couple of scratches.
As the reddit poster above stated BMW's have evolved significantly since the day my Dad made that comment.
Having said all that, I still remember moving a green over tan '72 2002 tii at the gas station I worked at in '73. It was definitely a desirable car.

Mojave Silver. I can live with that on a daily basis.
