Angry West Coast dealers that aren't price gouging

Are there any dealers in the Western US that aren't marking up S580's? Hoping to find a car in Nevada, Southern California, Arizona or Utah. So far I've been hit with 10-15k markup and I refuse to play that game. Thanks!

Have you checked the big Cali dealers? The one had something like 25 on the lot, Fletcher or something or other. They're the highest volume in the US. In my corner of the West I went MSRP on an order with a build date in the last decade of August. It's a 23 build and no pricing yet.

Funny enough, Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach was the one that hit me with 15k over 🤣

Huh, I didn't call down, just figured maybe they might be lower as I can usually do better down there ( Cali in general) than I can in the Seattle area if I don't have a trade. Pretty much a non starter when you do have a trade because they don't give you the sales tax credit. In any event if you want to order you could probably get MSRP up here; I've no special bargaining skills. Looking on the ground on the other hand is slim pickings at best.

I just bought a car at MB of South Bay for MSRP. I also had a deposit, speaking of I need to cancel it @ Fletcher Jones who also was selling to me @ MSRP.

Seems like West Covina dealer may be willing to do MSRP. Although they add some silly "ecoblock" to all cars for $995. Anyone knows what that thing is?

Funny, as soon as they heard I was from Nevada and not California, they wanted $8k OVER. I'm so pissed. Told the lady if they set the price on a nationwide engine like TrueCar and they are willing to sell for MSRP, what does my geographic location have to do with it? Southern California is huge, I lived there for 16 years, but I lived in Encino, so there were at least 5 dealers between me and their dealership, not like they would ever see me for service anyways. These people make no sense.

Do you still have that e-mail by chance? I'd love to see it. If you can forward it to me, would be awesome. odessit12 at gmail.

Call MB@South Bay and ask for Cordell McDonald. I bought a 157k msrp car from them for sticker and they shipped to NYC. Made it relatively easy except im still waiting for plates and they wont do in transit or temp for out of state. So i've literally had to stare at this car for 2 weeks now in my driveway. And since no plates I gotta leave it on the driveway which in turn means I never take out my other car from the garage cause its super annoying.

I think you've got a good shot of talking your way out of it if you want for a mercy spin around the block.

Oh man I know LOL.. I've been telling myself just drive without the plates and take it for a quick drive. I've been telling myself everyday the plates are gonna come but im starting now to lose patience. I've never in my life bought a car in NY where I lived for almost all my life and no matter where I bought the car I had either temp, or out of state in transit plates. Another weirdo thing CA does, not give temp plates LOL

Mercedes in Thousand Oaks sold me my 2021 last July for sticker and did an out of state transaction so I saved about $5,500 in sales tax. The dealer also paid to ship the car as if I drove it off the lot I would have had to pay California sales tax. In my state I think there is a grace period to register the car if you have the paperwork because the DMV needed to visually inspect the VIN number ans scan the barcode. Make sure you bring all of the paperwork to the DMV. I only brought official forms, but they wanted to see the contract too to determine the sales tax (which in my state you can deduct the trade-in from the new cars price).

I registered the car in Florida and when purchasing new or from dealer no need to goto the DMV, the intermediary who does the registration/plates handles this. If I was down in Florida I would have just went down already myself but since Im up in NYC at my house there im kinda at there mercy. As far as sales tax I had to pay FL tax just like any other time ive purchased or leased a vehicle. I wish this dealer would have shipped on there dime, it was around 3k from CA to NY with the diesel pricing now.. However, I searched the entire country for a vehicle and this was literally the only executive package that I found that wasn't missing anything substantial so I bit the bullet. I only had to let go of trunk kick opener and the fragrance thingy. However, I picked up EABC and 4D Burmeister so I was kinda happy about that trade off

Enjoy your car. The question is/was will the supply issue get better before it gets worst? I had to make a decision like everyone else. If you can afford it and want it, go for it. I am not sorry I didn't wait. Even if there was a good supply, the economy is tanking and if I waited, I probably wouldn't have bought the car right now. But I did, I could afford it, and the investments will come back, but meantime I have a really nice car for almost a year so far, and expect many more years of enjoying it. And even though the price of gas is high and I get poor MPG, being retired I drive less so I am actually spending a lot less on fuel. I can spin it that I am happy or sad, I choose happy.

As for accessories, other then nice leather and rear wheel steering assist, there are no features I couldn't live without. I have the 20" wheels and have not had any issues. Many of the features like the heads up display are nice, but I could live without most features if it meant waiting a long time for the car. I do like the Ambient Lighting, but that was standard when I bought my car.

Might not be a good idea.
Sure, you might talk your way out from getting a ticket from an understanding cop.
But, if any accident happens, you will be without insurance. You just never know.

I take back everything good I said about MB of South Bay. There a bunch of lying dirtbag scoundrels lol. All this time im waiting for plates/registration and there telling me the DMV is just taking forever. I finally get a hold of the registration company myself and they basically tell me I dunno why there lying to you I've been in touch with them daily over the last month and only yesterday did they finally send over all of your paperwork to process everything. So now I know why 1 month later I cannot drive the car, because they dropped the ball on sending paperwork and payment for reg/plates. If your in Cali you probably wont have this issue and maybe there alright to deal with, but if your buying a car out of state California is just a nightmare. On top of all of this they wont even issue In transit out of state temps.

California doesn’t allow you to drive with a temporary tag?

Not for out of state residents. I assume if your in California they will provide temp tags, but any other state they will not provide temps or in transit. I've never had any state tell me this, first time. And almost 5 weeks later now and no plates/reg. It looks like within the next 10 days I should have them, most aggravating experience of my life

That sucks. I bought my S580 out of state and it took the dealership over 4 months to have its vendor process my registration with Georgia. Fortunately I had a temporary tag while they finally got it done.

Thats terrible. Look if they gave me temps and they want to be screwups what do i care, i can still drive. What the real aggravating part of it was when I finally got in touch with there 3rd party company the lady was like i dont know why there not telling you the truth, Ive been talking to them all along. If they would have told me listen were waiting on X from mercedes financial or whatever I would have understood, instead they tell me there waiting on the DMV and im sitting around everyday like a moron waiting for Fedex to deliver plates/reg. Now at least since she has all the paperwork they told me its under 10 days and i'll get an email the day the plates ship with tracking number, etc. I had a good sales experience overall, but this plate thing really left a sour taste in my mouth
