Traffic Light view

Good day all: has anyone else experience, since getting the MBUX recall done back in August, your Traffic Light View stopped working? Mine has, and the dealer tells me that it’s a known issue with Mercedes, and that a software update will be coming. Well it’s been 3 months, and nothing. I even called MBUSA and put in an escalation ticket, and they can’t seem to tell me anything as well. Fortunately it’s not a big concern but, after paying for a vehicle I would expect all features to work as intended.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Now that you mention it; I haven't seen traffic light view. I guess you're not alone. O_o

Check you assistance settings to make sure it is not turned off. Funny enough there were complaints for the first model year cars about this feature and most wanted it gone as it would always automatically pop up.

Yeah, I turned it on when I did my first menu dive before I rolled off the lot. There is a lot to unpack with this one that are higher on my list and I hadn't noticed it wasn't checking in; as soon as I read the thread title it hit me that it wasn't coming on. I did read the threads where people were complaining about it but I like to check things out for myself.

I believe you also have to be the first person in line at an intersection for it to come on.

Yes, the traffic light view is disappointing. You have to be the first person or have a clear full view of the traffic light to work. It is delayed from real time by a full second too. It would be a great feature if it indicated a green light by beeping or sound or the interior lights flashing. I think it's just annoying and the newest MBUX update i got made it optional in the settings.

Not sure why it should appear when not the first in the queue. I find it blocking the MBUX view too much and have turned it off. Perhaps need to try it to see if it fails with the current SW.

Mine seems to work even if I'm the second or third car and have a clear view of the light. I wonder where they get the traffic information from, I always notice there 3-5 seconds off also on when the light will change. Really a complete useless feature for the AR overlay, the countdown clock I think is pretty interesting and lets me know how much time I have until it changes

Can you share the software version you now have after getting MBUX update? Maybe that is what I need to get mine working again.

Mine is the same as this:
https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ml#post8598619

Zero layer came already on an earlier SW and I think someone posted a more recent update. Not sure if mine is the latest any more.

I'm trying to end up first at a stoplight to verify but I'll be damned...

It also doesn't work on every stoplight. I guess only the ones it has in its maps.

Update: took my car to dealer last week Monday for them to check why my Traffic Light View was not working. They attempted to update software. Got to about 80% and the update stalled. Got a loaner and they said they will have to run update again. Called me later that evening to tell me that when they tried to update the second time, the car went into limp mode. None of the safety features are currently working. Dealer said they opened a ticket with Mercedes to get it fixed. As of today the only updates I have been given from dealer is that they are still waiting to hear back from Mercedes. Going to give it til this week to get fixed or I will be writing MBUSA to start the documentation process in the event this becomes a Lemon issue.

It’s when you are first car at a red light intersection, the front camera comes on your tablet screen showing you the entire intersection and traffic lights. Not a big option, but mine is not working.

If your car is so far ahead that it sits almost right under the traffic light hanging right above you, the Traffic Light View will save you from peeking up the windshield to check the traffic light as it can show you the traffic light in the Central Display.
Even though it is supposed to work when your car is first in the traffic line, sometimes mine still gets triggered if I am the 2nd or 3rd.
Not very useful so far imo.

Update: MB USA could not figure out the problem so the Dealer said they sent the problem to Germany. They supposedly did that today. Today i also sent certified mail, a letter to MB Corporate in Georgia to document the issue, and get the case started on possible lemon issue. I say lemon issue because as of 5 December my car is rendered driverless as none of the safety features work on the car. My original problem was not a safety concern but now it is because of whatever the dealer tried to do, and now put car in limp mode. From what the shop foreman explained to me, my car is like a computer without an operating system. Basically just a BIOS. Will wait to hear what Germany says, and Corporate from my letter that they should be receiving on Monday.

Update: Dealer called me today and said Germany told them to replace ECU. I don’t know which ECU but they said they ordered part and hope to have it in on Friday or Monday. So will see how it goes. Just info sharing in the event anyone else with the 2021 experience same issue.

I can tell you this much, mine has completely stopped working all of a sudden. I still get the activation of the camera, so it comes up on my command display with AR video, but the actual traffic light countdown has been missing for weeks now. I think this is just Mercedes ME issue

Someone in the GLE V167 forum said they got a response from MBUSA saying the Traffic Light Connected Services will be sundowned and no longer available moving forward.

Mine has yet to work; it's never come on, no countdown, nothing. As I said already, it is enabled in the options but now it appears the left hand may not be talking to the right hand? In other words I have the option but it was never going to be active.

I'm pretty sure I would have turned this off but I still feel like it's an advertised feature for which I should be compensated if taken from me.
