W223 face lift

As soon as any spy shots of the 2025 are available please get them to the forum

i am interested, as of now a super low miles highly optioned 222 is in my future
But
A better styled bumper and grill
A crease or two in the body side
maybe maybe an integrated instrument display ( add some dash trim around it)
And ill wait for it.... or maybe purchase the 222 anyway and wait for 25

Any spys yet?

The facelift will likely be very minor on the outside. The front and rear bumpers will likely receive changes, but very small ones at that. As for the side, it is very rare to have a face-lifted car receive new creases and side profile design as manufacturers typically only do bumpers and lights, not doors.

The '25 has been spied once, but only camo on the headlights. Its possible there will be more changes but who knows, these spy shots are from July. The interior will likely receive upgrades similar to the upcoming W214 E-Class.

Biggest 2025 question for me will be if they will offer electric opening/closing doors to compete with BMW, Genesis. The 223’s could really use them.

It's fortunate for them they don't have a car above them to protect; the Maybach has cost us features we should have had in the US, the doors, digital lights, etc.

Does the Maybach have electric door openers/closers on the front doors or just the rear? I would just love those BMW type adaptive openers on the front doors of my S580.

Rear for sure but I don't know about the front. Realistically the S class is just now seeing it's first players trying to play the same game rather than nibble at margins like Lexus has been doing with value, BMW with sportiness, etc. I've always thought the Maybach should move further away from the S class; not as far as before but a middle ground. I don't think it's buyers would balk at paying a bit more and it would allow them to build an S-Class with things like lights that are available in its own product line on cars that are at less than half the price point rather than gimping them the way they are now.

Bottom line is I agree with you and I'm hoping the more directed competition makes your wish come true.

I would skip the 7er's door package. Multiple reviewers have claimed it to be clumsy because the sensors pick up too much going on and take a while to open and start at a crack and then wait to open further. The Genesis one's I tested were interesting but again, opening a door is not a hard task, and the motor adds weight to the door pull. Assisted closing is nice, but I'm not lazy enough that I need a door to open for me. I'm surprised @Streamliner your interested in this feature and don't consider it a gimmick.

Its not laziness. The doors on my S580 sometimes open too far out and you have to bend quite a ways sometimes even step out of the car to grab them (its happened to my wife on several occasions). You are fortunate in that you apparently don't have back issues but for some of us who do and who buy the S class primarily for comfort it can be an issue.

On the throttle house review one of the guys said that the door opened up into his M2; he didn't look pleased. In my view they would be handy for closing rather than opening; right now I use the door cubby to pull it in enough to get hold of the actual area you're supposed to pull it shut with and I'm 6 foot. IMO if you're an uber sedan you compete in a segment where it's all on the table, nothing is supposed to lack and anything that does is a failure to fully punch the uber sedan ticket. I know you can't have everything in one car but an Uber sedan should come as close as possible, it almost defines the segment.

Edit: Ya went ninja on me Bubba, I could have just typed, "What he said" and walked away.

You know, you’re right. If I could have it my way, I’d have the door open not nearly as wide. In addition, I’d want what have been called the “magnetic” door stops, where the door would hold in most any, open position. My 2015 S550 had them, but by the time I got my 2018 S560, they were gone. All that said, if MB insists on the doors as they are now, a button to close them really is needed, in my opinion.

I really miss those door stops (I also had a 2015). I know manufactures de-content all the time but this was plain dumb- such a useful feature gone...

The doors are really annoying. They are bothering me enough that I may prematurely change the car sooner than the 3 years I was planning.

I love the S580 otherwise but comfort, in every aspect, for me is what my daily driver is all about. I hope MB fixes this on the refresh and stops punishing S class owners because of their fixation on the Maybach brand.

I love how quickly power closing doors which until about 3 months ago didn't exist on anything but Rolls Royces has become basic necessary tech that MB is somehow deficient for not having.

if they had kept the doorstops from the previous model I don’t think anybody would be complaining.

SW20, are you ok with the way your w223 doors work?

I don't have a W223, but I havent seen anything very different about how the doorstops work from my 222 in the ones I have driven and sat in, of course I don't have the same experience as someone living with the car every day. It was more an amusement comment about power closing doors lol

Pre-Facelift 222’s had those types of doors that would stop anywhere rather than specific set points.

Oh I know, but those were gone actually before the facelift, I think they were gone in like 06 or 07.

E Class, sure. 5 series, ok. A6, it's fine. This isn't that: This is Uber sedan territory, no excuses will be given, none taken!

True that; I'd be fine with the mag doors. In fact, I don't know if I mentioned it but I REALLY, REALLY, miss them.
