Fingerprint Sensor on 2023 S580
Can't get the fingerprint sensor to work. Starts scanning but does not complete scan and prompts to scan again or cancel. Tried various fingers but to no avail. I'm guessing it's only used for logging on to the BMUX. The dealer so far is at a loss, maybe this is new for 2023. Thanks.

No; mine is a 23 and it's been flawless. I do mean flawless: I can't recall a single failure. There is a lot of stuff hidden behind that log in and I'd want to have it working. My suggestion would be to remove all users and then go through and create a new user putting in your voice, fingerprint, and if you have it, face unlock. Afterwards attempt to log in with all three and see if anything let's you in.
They all work fine for me although the fingerprint is very fast and accurate making it a better fit in my startup routine.

Thanks, good idea I'll try that. Mine is perfect too except for that. Fabulous car, got 28.3 MPG coming back from our 2nd home although I (mostly) keep it under 80 during the first 1,000 miles.

I guess I wasn't clear. That is when configuring your fingerprint for use, you must continuously tap to complete the scan process for the setup. Once setup, and to "logon", yes simply touch & hold for a sec. and that works for me too. Thanks.

once your fingerprint has been inputted don’t do anything for the set up. Once you start your car after about a minute or less your preferences are installed and you are ready to go. No need to keep tapping as the car will welcome you and your settings

I'd say the facial rec usually picks me up within a minute after leaving. The fingerprint thingy I always have to fiddle around with it for some time, its rather annoying. As far as setup no more annoying then doing it on an iphone, move around move around and eventually its done lol.

Yeah, it's standard for fingerprint input; I had no idea he was talking about the setup. I'd input the same finger again as another finger if it will let you, remove the old one, whatever it takes. The main thing about waiting for face or using voice is they both take longer and I miss the toast for the last mode which means I have to disable start/stop and put it into individual manually instead of just hitting the toast. There are other things too, like having to wait for the profile to get logged into Tidal and so on.
