These new VW Micro Buses will sell like hotcakes and dealers will be marking them way up for sometime. They are probably burning the midnight oil in Wolfsburg, dreaming up special editions ad nauseam. I’m sure there are going to be psychedelic versions and more than one artist will use them as a blank canvas four outrageous creations. With the bus being electric, you can bet that most every wealthy greenie living in The People’s Republic of Santa Monica and other progressive environs will be snapping them up as fashion accessories. I expect a flood of used Prius models to hit the market about the same time the buses are released.

This new Vanagon kind of reminds me of the revived Beetle 20 years ago and the revived Ford Thunderbird at about that same time. They start selling strong for a little while on the market and then they disappear again. My biggest concern about this new van is the fact that the rear seated row of passengers won't have windows to look out of. Would it be better looking and more desirable if it had windows 360 degrees around the vehicle?

I had promised my wife that I would buy her a new Thunderbird when they were first announced. Then, the cars came out and it is difficult to remember a car that had more promise, but was designed & produced in such a way, that it was a huge failure. I actually wrote a letter to the then Chairman of the company Edsel Ford. I told him how the exterior design was nice, but that Ford completely missed the boat by not offering it in the exterior & interior COLORS that made the baby birds such a huge success in the 50’s. Had I been a much wealthier man back then, I would have painted one of the new birds Turquoise Blue and had the interior done in Turquoise & white leather and I would have sent the car to him. If I recall correctly, all of the interiors of the new cars were at least half black, with another color as an accent. Can you imagine if the new birds were offered in the retro exterior colors, with matching, full color interiors? Every housewife would have wanted one.

Of course, the new birds had other problems as well. They did not have good ride quality, didn’t handle well, were sluggish and for the most part, were not engineered well. Ford spent all that money designing a nice body, but then gave lip service to the rest of the design. The new, 2-seat Thunderbirds were a colossal failure when they could have been a grand slam home run.

That sadly was also cancelled despite already in development. I always loved the XJ, such a gorgeous vehicle, and they drove well too.

It does have windows around the vehicle. Do you mean about how they don’t roll down?

Even the interior of the old 6er looked more special than the newer and more expensive 8er thanks to the way the dashboard curves and flows into the center console.

2024 Jeep Wrangler S ~$45K new and they're finally updating the technology (don't buy a 2023 model). 2023 Toyota Supra with BMW 3.0L I6 and 6-speed manual transmission ~$55K new (automatics are for mamby pamby wuss girls, so don't buy a 2022). And if Intel goes back to $50/share this year both the Lotus Elise and Eletre can be had nicely optioned for ~$100K, each.

I’m glad those vehicles are on YOUR radar, but they are not on mine. No Jeeps that were not made by ******. I’ve had three Supras, which were all SUPRA, but folks currently driving W223’s or 222’s are, most likely, not thinking sports cars. Lotus? Same as Supra. Next contestant!

Unfortunately Mercedes' I6 in the GLE is a "mild hybrid" so you get the disadvantages of both worlds: expensive battery that'll need replacing and constant maintenance of the gas engine. I almost bought a used 2020 GLE 450 with E-Active Body Control though. There's only one CPO in the whole country right now, in Alpharetta, GA.

My wife has a Jeep. I get that the wrangler has a huge following and they look great lifted with the big tires but the interior quality, ride quality, and stereo are terrible.

A RED 911 Carrera is on my radar. I wish my husband would purchase one so I can drive it...on Sundays. 😊

I'm just basing that on the pictures posted above. It appears to have full metal from top to bottom at the back 1/3 of the vehicle. Am I seeing it wrong? Correction: I just went back and looked and all but the white one seems to have windows. The white looks like solid metal but it might just be a white screen rolled up making it appear as a solid sheet metal siding.

i'm not a fan of 4 door Jeeps with a truck bed despite their popularity. You can't maneuver something like that around trees without bringing a chainsaw with you. I need a short wheelbase and a full size spare tire and the two door Wrangler fits that bill perfectly. Plus if I do hit a tree I can afford to fix it. Off roading in a G wagon sounds like an expensive proposition.

I'm with you on those retarded 4 door/pickup truck jeeps! SO STUPID!
Jeep stopped making Jeeps (cj7) in 1986 IMO

The white model is a commercial van.

That being said knowing my luck (and my attention span with cars) something newer and different will come along or I'll end up needing a four door and things could change. But at the moment, something smaller, sportier, and with a V8 is the goal.
I see, then it does indeed sound like the R232 AMG SL 63 will be on your shopping list. Our needs changes pretty quick eh : ) so unpredictable at times too :/ For example first we need a full size car now we don't need it or then we have to have an SUV (just as an example)

I guess the other problem is that the new 8er looks just like the 3er interior wise, imo.
The dramatic styling like curves is definitely a theme at BMW's design team I figured, first those curves you mentioned then the grille, there are also lots of curves and lines on the new 5er as well not the same extent as a Hyundai Elantra but a lot.

I guarantee you that if you drive a vehicle like this VW, you will have the most beautiful, straight, gorgeous women banging on your doors all day long. Biggest and best selling point of "The Thing".

Honestly though, I always liked quirky looking VW cars, like the VW Beetle and the original VW bus. Oh and Mr Bean's mini, those are cute too.

I guess humans in general like cute things?

Waiting for Alpina to get its chance at the new 7 series. Would love one in Alpina Green. Or a two tone with Alpina Green and Cashmere Silver.
