A recent workaround for people that don't qualify for the $7500 credit is that the dealer can pass that on through a lease. $300k is not a lot of income for a lot of EVs, but that's a pretty nutty workaround given the intent of the law.

Residuals are high. They push buyers towards purchases with overly bad lease deals. Historically that's been the case with most EVs.
